Said it several times. Ron DeSantis would turn out to be the Scott Walker of the 2024 campaign. For those who may have forgotten about former Wisconsin Governor Walker: The Crash and Burn of Scott Walker Before Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker entered the presidential race, he was touted as the candidate who had it all. He took on the unions — and won — in the state where organized labor was born. He won three statewide elections in four years in races that attracted national donors and gave him a broad fundraising network. Finally, he appealed to all lanes of the Republican Party — the establishment, the religious conservatives and the tea party movement. Walker rose to the top of the polls before he even entered the race. But his campaign fell quickly — and hard. About two months after he formally announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination, Walker called it quits. The move was abrupt, and it shocked political pundits who had no idea how bad his financial situation was and how flawed of a candidate he was — both behind the scenes and in front of the cameras. The Six Biggest Political Surprises of the Year (2015-2016) DeSantis's landslide reelection victory was largely based on a single factor, reopening the state's tourist based economy after the Covid lockdowns. In less than two and a half years Florida's unemployment rate went from a peak over 13% in July 2020 to less than 3% when DeSantis ran for reelection in November 2022. The fact that Charlie Crist wasn't a very good candidate didn't hurt either but it was almost entirely the economic rebound. Meatball Ron's social policies were almost irrelevant.
Well, Chy-na Ron's campaign ended with as much incompetence as it started. Why would you post this quote above a video of you quitting? “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” - Winston Churchill Oh, & Winston Churchill did NOT say this. "Not only did Churchill never say those words—he never said the similar words more usually attributed to him, which are: 'Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts,'" the society wrote in 2013. They added that they based the conclusion "on careful research in the canon of fifty million words by and about Churchill, including all of his books, articles, speeches and papers." A DeSantis spokesperson did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment. DeSantis uses fake Winston Churchill quote as he ends disastrous presidential campaign
When ya got nothing, attack the person. Since you can't resist making it personal, the two of you might compare degrees. The discussion is about education, afterall. What ya got?
Lol. Look who came out of the basement. You got me I never went to college. I just graduated public high school. Instead, I opened my own business and did pretty well for myself. Was able to sell it and retire at 51 how about you or your buddy? I wonder what I could have become if I went to college. I am very proud of my daughter who graduated from UF. My middle son has about 1 1/2 left at UF. My youngest is a junior in high school. Anything else you want to know?
DeSantis wasn’t successful (at least in the primary) for one reason and one reason alone… he was competing against Donald Trump.
It cratered because it’s hard to get revved over a campaign that couldn’t beat the front runner even if it pooled the rest of the voting base of the rest of the primary candidates (not including Trump). Being perceived as a winner or a viable contender pays big dividends in elections like this.
Again, he was competing against Trump. Question for all of the people taking a massive dump on DeSantis right now… Remove Trump from the race, and where does the bulk of those votes go (before DeSantis suspended his campaign)?
I mean, this is a cute theory and all, but the race was effectively over before it began. And Trump played his hand like a poker god. By staying out of the debates, it made it easier for DeSantis and Vivek to throw their support behind him without it looking forced. Another big endorsement for The Great One, our Dear Leader President Donald J. Trump!!
