Alabama cornerback Jameer Grimsley enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Grimsley would make the 12th in the portal. I’m keeping count because I said 15 to 16 total. This would be a different one in the portal but they all count. Texas was nice enough to release Robinson from his letter of intent, but Alabama made Grimsley go into the portal… I’ll stand by that I think we will end up with 15 to 16 guys out of the portal.
I’m hoping Asa Turner makes number 13. and then we add at least one more offensive lineman, a top 2 to 3 receiver, and another secondary guy.

Grimsley had to go through the portal because he was already enrolled in school. If he hadn’t been enrolled, Bama would have released him. If Robinson had enrolled at TX already, he would have had to come through the portal too.

 

Robinson had not yet arrived or checked in dorm at TX. Grimsley had already checked into dorm at Bama.

 

I love it either way. I said a big piece to us being successful next year will be to be super aggressive in the portal taking 15-16 kids. This is a different one in that he’s got no experience but it’s still a big pick up. I also like that Billy is going to be at 84-85 with numbers going into spring. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him at 86-87 and he has to be this way as we know more will leave. Mentality wise, the more aggressive nature Billy is taking is awesome and what is needed.

 

I know he is crystal balled to us, but why are we considering him a commit? Is he at Florida now?

 

He canceled the lsu visit & is at UF today. If he's not a Gator then it'll be crazier than $aban's retirement announcement.

 

And he plans on being an early enrollee, at this point I think UF is the only option for him to do that since he is at UF now.

 

I think one of those QB's we signed was a walk on not a transfer, and as someone corrected me once Taylor is came from Juco so technically also does not count as a transfer. So you're an additional 2 off from your total you posted.

Both put names in and had used college eligibility, or were enrolled in a college. There’s nothing else they could be.

 

I won’t consider him a commit until I see it reported and it’s from a good source. A different sort of portal/transfer kid but we surely will take it.

I mean i see it that way but as someone brought to my attention they are not counted in the transfer ratings.

 

He's become a fantastic source of information. I love when Harris is on as well listening to his insights & experiences. I think he'd be a fantastic coach/recruiter if he wanted that option.

 

I think he says he coaches high school IIRC.

 

I did not see that, hopefully he can install some Gator blood into his players if so!
