Want to see Class LOL! A fan yelling to Novak as he is in his preparation to serve for the match to “get vaccinated”. Watch how Novak handles it. As it probably does hurt the feelings of those who belittled people like Novak…

    Wow, just wow.

COVID vaccines had trial groups in the tens of thousands, but this Phase 3 trial is hoping for 500 enrollees.

This vaccine requires on-going booster injections, which I thought "real vaccines" didn't need on-going injections? At least that is what all of the right-wingers keep saying about the COVID vaccines (not to mention polio, flu, hepatitis, DTAP, etc....)

Additionally, while this is an amazing evolutionary advancement in medical science, it is a drug combination that has been around for over twenty years in one form or another. Wagner and his team published their first paper in 2005. None of the predecessors progressed past Phase 3 after failing in a larger group. Getting the body to produce antibodies against its own cells is not quite as easy as provoking a response to a foreign invader.

Finally, the major limitation of this immunotherapy treatment, which is really what it is, is that you actually have to get cancer for them to use this treatment. An actual vaccine would be something that prevents severe disease, not treats it after the fact, though this may eventually prove to be a great first step towards an actual vaccine.

My nominated post for the Irony of The Year award, and it’s still only the third week in January.

Are you suggesting that wacko is a respectful term? Do you call your boss wacko? Your wife? Are you proud when your wacko kids call your wacko mom grandma wacko?

If you want a more respectful community, start by controlling the one individual whose behaviors are actually under your control.

arguing science with these people is a waste of time. I don’t even try anymore. They are so sure they’re right and everyone else is wrong they won’t even stop and smell what they are shoveling.

Someone mentioned to me yesterday more people with the vaccine are dying now than not the vaccine. And when I tried to explain basic probability because 81% of people are some level of vaccinated, they called me a hysterical liberal. You might as well try to convince an election denier trump really lost.

Must have been deadly back then too …

[1] Variolation is no longer used today. It was replaced by the smallpox vaccine, a safer alternative.

Ancient inoculations indeed risked spreading the small pox virus itself, but those skilled at the art gave people a better chance than the disease itself did.

I limited my claim to those skilled at the art, and there is no way that included all such practitioners back then. In the same way, I would say that an appendectomy is preferable to untreated appendicitis, but I still wouldn’t want it performed by a random dude that lives under a bridge.

Anyway, I know that you and I employ different standards of evidence on these questions, so I don’t expect we’ll agree here.

Yes, wacko is being nice and honest when describing them. I was the boss, so naturally no. Haven't any reason to call my wife wacko yet. I'm very proud of my kids and yes, I'm thankful they're not wackos.

I simply weigh (1) paucity of evidence for anything to vaccinate for against (2) abundance of evidence that vaccines can harm and kill.

Analogy: appendectomy as unnecessary and potentially risky surgery for appendixes that don’t exist.

This is my point. If name calling is nice and honest when it applies to them, but not when it applies you, we will never agree because from their perspective, you are them.
