As long as Bill Self and Will Wade are still coaching college basketball, the NCAA can go pound sand.
Hopefully this investigation will not find any wrong doing on UF's part. Why is UF under an NCAA investigation? The recruiting of Rashad was not just one entity involved. There are/were several entities. All of these entities will be interviewed to examine the Rashad recruitment. Thus UF is in under the NCAA microscope. Ruiz is still under the NCAA microscope. This slimeball will spin and fabricate any story to save his ass and to bring down UF and a few other schools. Thus UF is under the NCAA microscope.
These collectives last year were advertising on FB for donations. Not much was known about them or why they would promise any high schooler that much money to change commits. Never even considered sending anyone money to pay a football player to come to any school. It seemed at the time that there was no rules governing this scam.
Agreed. Gator Collective was rather confusing and a bit suspicious. UF officials discouraged campus clubs from associating with them even before the Rashada incident. Last year there were Redditors claiming to be boosters warning people about GC. Supposedly Florida Victorious has fixed all those problems by hiring better staff and communicating better with potential donors. Anthony Richardson, Danny Wuerffel, and Patric Young are among the advisors on the FV staff.
Why can't we have a sqeaky clean program like Bama or UGA or even aTm???? Or someone like Prime who was able to get 5 star players to go to perennial power Jackson State just because of his great coaching experience.
Wasn’t the letter from back in June? I can only imagine this investigation is wrapping up. I haven’t followed this too closely, but what can the NCAA do when the university has already acted and severed ties with the defunct collective. There’s been player tweets in this last ESD and transfer portal that, at minimum, implies pay for play across many schools. Perhaps they should be looking at fixing that.
They managed to keep it under wraps until the results were done. Seems to be a lot in media cough cough Baker that dig for dirt on UF. A little birdie could have tipped him off and then they put in the request for info release.
This actually may buy Napier some time. We suffered recruiting penalties under Mullen with a staff that didn’t recruit well, have been under an NCAA microscope since June 2023, and will likely continue be under an NCAA microscope for the foreseeable future. This is not a level playing field. And despite the lackluster finish to the 2024 recruiting cycle, Napier did show the ability to recruit well at Louisiana when compared to the rest of his conference. SEC of course is a different animal, but I think this staff might be able to speed a little more if the cops aren’t following them around. Who knows? I hope we’re good enough next year to warrant an opportunity to find out. It’s clear to me that there are people both in the SEC admin and the NCAA admin who just don’t like the University of Florida. Why that’s the case, I don’t know. Hard not to look at us as the black sheep of the SEC sometimes where Alabama, Georgia, and in the modern SEC LSU, are the golden boys.
An nfl qb gets 55 mil a year and AR gets 27 mil gaurateed as a top prospect. I don’t see where 3-4 mil a year for a college qb top prospect is that far fetched comparatively. I would be interested to see what these kids are really getting paid. Ten percent of what a comparative nfl player gets seems logical to be. Does sitting on the fifty at the Swamp cost ten times less than sitting on the fifty in the nfl?
The penalty will be program crushing, I can see it now. We will be barred from ever recruiting Rashada again! Oh the humanity…
Effing A. In a world with no rules, how can you bust people for violating rules? No backing down; no more '84. We kick them so hard in the rear they will want to drink scotch!
Those that brought this fabrication to light KNOW that any kind of bad light cast on Florida will effect it's recruiting... especially now in this, "portal season." True scumbags! Looking forward to curb-stomping the CoCaines this year!
