One more season before the bottom falls out. The CFP has no contract after next season and the people who pony up the cash are saying that better get fixed soon or no football after next season. Advertisers want commitment and they want to see it done for years to come not a year at a time. There's no guarantee the 12 team CFP stays after next season. Those who pay for their name attached to a bowl wants some sort of guarantee that the bowl is real and isn't featuring a pair of teams that couldn't beat UMass. The portal will end as we know it and we'll get some sort of sanity back after next season OR there won't be any college football in 2025.
