Yeahhhhh… CBN will never be able to recruit a premier QB or top edge and ILB talent unless there are changes.

Do you think we didn't pay a lot of money for those guys? My guess is at least one of them got at least a million$$ to sign with UF.

So, you're sayin' UF does pay a lot of money. Is that what needs to change?

I'm saying we need even more money to compete at the highest level.

I don’t want to get in the middle of the conversation but…

Florida paid/promised to be paid a TON of money to DJ Lagway and LJ McCray. (McCrays price went up and up on national signing day, delaying his signing by hours). We kept McCray in a bidding war, losing other bidding wars shortly before signing day.

UF chooses to bid when they think a position and player are worth it.

Very few people know how much we have, or how much anyone else has. I would be that number fluctuates monthly. There is zero transparency.

Given that, why do people like you act like you know what we have or don't have? You have no clue, and are just making things up.

only what I have read. Lagway family said they were offered a very competitive NIL package. They didn’t look for more later on and turned down more money.

Reporters for both Auburn and Florida were writing extensively on signing day how Auburn bumped their NIL offer up by hundreds of thousands and UF eventually matched it.

it is not like McCray and Lagway - or any player - decided to come to UF and not be paid money and just passed up all offers.

I’m sure they are getting good money, just wasn’t sure how the stance on bidding was. I wouldn’t be surprised if DJ got several million.

It seems that is true. So, then, all the complaints about what Gators don't spend are based on speculation. I'm not going to waste my time with that game. Doesn't sound like much fun.

Dang, @Tolbert1906, you gave me an "off-topic" on my futile attempt to get us back on topic. Well-played, but, just remember, I owe you one now and will use it when you least expect it. ;)

No matter how much it is, someone else always has a dollar more. Enough will never be enough.

So true. Professional athletes make money, but they are under serious contract restrictions, as is their team. They can't just bounce from place to place. They are, in essence, indentured servants. The team can trade them whenever they want. The money is transparent and controlled. Not so with NIL.

This whole current NIL program defies all business norms. No business would do things this way, nor do professional sports.

It is, in my opinion, a giant recruiting violation. The players are being paid to attend, not for their NIL, and everyone knows it. While the FSU NIL case may not seem like a big deal, I think it is. The NCAA took a stand there, FSU caved, and now they may be looking for other targets.

Easy question for the NCAA to a collective: show us where this player's NIL was used to justify this payment?

They will be running for the bathroom.

Every business is run this way if you consider the players as employees. Employers and headhunters target and offer qualified targets and poach them from competitors all the time. If anything, professional sports players are the anomaly.

I'm going mainly on what I hear from some people like Shane Matthews and a few other professional reporters. If I hear or read this from one person I'm skeptical because that person could've just got bad info from his or her sources or is just producing clickbait. When there are several sources that are generally seen as credible sources saying the same thing it gives at least some credence to the subject matter they're disseminating. I honestly don't know how accurate they are but experience tells me they're more accurate than not.
