I get nervous with things like this because it seems like the longer it goes the less chances actually become. Not sure if he’s an early enrollee but if so drop/add or deadline is any day now ( could be wrong) I’d think.

1. He is a consensus 4 star with a score of .9100+. He was good enough for Texas plus has a good offer list.

2. The Texas article on his release says he is already graduated HS so he will be deciding this week. When is UF's last day to enroll for the spring term and can someone look to see if he is already enrolled with UF?

We don’t do bidding wars

 

I’ll disagree with your entire premise that we won’t be competitive unless we jump into bidding wars like Ole Miss and Auburn and others. We can build a team without going there — how do you think we got Lagway and McCray — both 5* players in positions of greatest need? We had a top 5 recruiting class without engaging in bidding wars — until we ended the season on a 5-game losing streak.

It’s not that we aren’t paying good money to key players we need — but you can’t buy everybody and our staff is obviously more methodical in building our roster in a less flashy, but likely more sustainable process.

We haven’t seen the caca hit the fan in these other greedy programs yet, but there’s no way to keep a diverse bunch of macho 18-19 year olds satisfied if you just keep outbidding everyone for the next guy up. It’s just not sustainable. And Napier and Co are clearly not making their moves out of desperation. It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

You don’t get it and neither do I man — let our guys who are on the front lines do their jobs without second-guessing every damn time some other program lands a guy that you think we should have out-bid everyone for. It’s just not how they’re going to do things in Gainesville. And hey, there’s a damn good chance they get this right, if impatient and ignorant fans will get off his back and give him time to do it.

The alternative is straight up self-destructive

I'm pretty sure I'll contribute more. Right now it's a month-to-month thing for me but there's a good chance I'll start making monthly contributions.

Is it even public knowledge what any team (really any collective) spends? Is there a reliable list somewhere? That is, how do we know how much we or anyone else spends anyway?

No, and you don’t. Any numbers I’ve seen were guesses and mostly based on the collectives, but the collectives don’t tell the whole story.
