No doubt Collinsworth knows football and all that, I just don’t care for him, if you do more power to you. Collinsworth lost me during his Kobe Bryant interview years ago when he inferred that it was old-fashioned and uncool to be proud to be an American, big props to Kobe for saying he was “not ashamed” and that he was a proud American when talking about his Olympic gold medal. America has problems, some of which are quite deeply rooted and should be acknowledged, we may disagree about how to handle them but at the end of the day Gator, Nole, Dog or Bammer we are all blessed to be Americans and I feel we should, just like anyone from anywhere, be proud of where we are from. In reality we have more in common than that which divides us.

If I misunderstood you I apologize. Not trying to bash but yeah I'm REALLY tired of the complaining.

I do have concerns about CBN going into a shell.
The final possession vs Mizzou is a noted example- though it could have worked if ETN hadn't gone OB.

There are other examples of him going into a shell. (Tennessee.)
I'm just not sure 1 score wins are evidence against him.
I'd take a bunch of 1 score wins next year...

    Does that change anything??
ESPN owned by Disney, NBC by Comcast.

Last I checked he still brought the Cowboys from nothing to 3 Super Bowl titles. (With a little help from his Gator friend.)
I'd say he knows his sports.

What does that have to do with anything? ALL professional players in any sport know the value of trust, respect and the right atmosphere and attitude on a team. The bottom line is still wins and losses. It takes accumulating the right players who are good enough to win, coaches who know what they're doing, commitment and dedication, plus attention to detail in all phases of the game. Some organizations and head coaches have what it takes, others don't. Dan Campbell has proven that he does and so far Napier has not proven much except that he can win at a mid-major. It simply isn't acceptable for THE University of Florida to have 3 consecutive losing seasons and I've seen nothing to indicate that we aren't headed for a 4th. You can have your opinion about that, fine. But I have mine as well and just because you coach at the high school level doesn't give you greater insight or understanding than anybody else, IMO. Many of us have a lot of business experience and the same principles apply in the business world. The bottom line in both areas is results, not excuses.

I'll take 1pt wins, but my point was you can't expect to win all those one score games, especially in the SEC. You have to coach to blow people out even if it's just 2 scores. Someone posted an interesting article talking about great coaches and their percentages of one score games and how many of those they won. The gist was great coaches don't get in to many one score games.

Ultimately most of us are on the same side and want FL to win the games they should, upset some teams along the way and post a winning record.

I did not know Chris Collinsworth said that. Did you hear him say that, or is it possibly hearsay?

Don't care much for the site, either, but they have the video. I'll give Chris the benefit of the doubt and say the questions were prepared in advance in the direction both wanted to go. Interviews are rarely completely cold...

Even worse. He could have asked it differently, such as “In popular culture these days it seems like some people view this……” or “There are people who would disagree with this…….” instead of making it sound like he was trying to get Kobe to agree with him. Again, big props to Kobe, my respect increased for him increased dramatically at that moment. He handled himself as one would hope.

Wait- YOU said who they work for makes you disregard their opinions.
I said if they are talking about sports, it is irrelevant who they work for.
    These guys have lived it.

You say that Dan Campbell has what it takes, but his first year he was 3-13, 2nd year 9-8.
So he didn't look so hot then. These things take time.

My opinion is based on a few things...
    • Being a part of SEC title winning teams at Florida. That's my ring in my avatar.
    • Being a part of a team that was LAST my sophomore year to FIRST my senior year.
    • Establishing teams in high school that went from not very good to state titles.
    • I'm also in business- as a CPA. Fisher school. Been a part of many different orgs. Some good, some not so good.
So I know that changing a loser into a winner starts with culture.
And sometimes it doesn't look so hot during the re-build, but then when it starts to go it can take off.
Whether Napier can do it- I think so. But I've said on this thread he's made his share of mistakes.
    He definitely needs to improve.

But yes- this is what my opinion is from.
    You can listen, or not.

One huge key difference is that the NFL is a parity-based league. Since the Lions were bad for a long time, they got high draft picks to pick the best players. The NFL also lets you trade players for more draft picks.

Since the Lions sucked in 2020, they got the #7 overall draft pick and used it on Penei Sewell. Sewell is now a Pro bowl player. Since the Lions sucked in 2021, they got the #2 overall draft pick and used it on Aidan Hutchinson. Hutchinson is now a Pro Bowl player, too.

Since Matthew Stafford didn't want to be in Detroit anymore, the Lions still owned his contractual rights and traded him for two 1st round draft picks.

College football is not a parity-based league. The Gators don't get to sign better players when they suck. The top teams sign the best players year after year after year. When players don't want to play for the Gators anymore, they just leave with no compensation.

You left out the part that Jesse sucks. Joe Garagiola was very good when he did baseball. Didn’t know Jesse did food. Maybe that’s his calling.
