I'm willing to admit that the Democrats have benefited from gerrymandering in Maryland. When the proportion of one party is much greater in a state legislature and/or a state's Congressional delegation than it is in based on the vote in statewide elections it's not democracy it's manipulation commonly referred to as gerrymandering and thanks to computer algorithms it's been more effective over the last decade or so than it's been historically although it's nothing new. I 100% think a doctor would do what is in the best interest of the mother! And they have every ability to do so. Does that mean the right decision is made at the right time every time? No. The court spelled it out. This is for doctors not the courts. And every single day doctors are making decisions on each individual patients health. Show me how Texas is trying to get in the way of that reality.

Actually it’s pretty easy to see where there is gerrymandering without being partisan at all. In a representative democracy, the districts are supposed to represent the population. If a state is 50-50, its national representatives and state legislature should be roughly 50-50. If it’s 75–25, then it should be roughly 75-25. It may not always line up perfectly, but over the long term if there is deviation or one party is consistently over represented vs the statewide vote it means representation isn’t being allocated appropriately to the population. I.e there is gerrymandering to get a different result.
Maybe that's how you think about it. Gerrymandering is gerrymandering. Democrats do it too. Of course, they don't racially gerrymander nearly as often. Regardless, it demonstrates again what bullshit the right-wing conception of "merit" is. The Republican Party is disproportionately white and male. And they disproportionately pick white men to represent them. Why? Because we are biased towards people who look, talk, and think like us.
