Read an article that suggested Billy has to have at least 6 wins to remain at Florida. No true according to this: UF AD Scott Stricklin: Gators' Billy Napier not on hot seat
Uh-oh....the dreaded vote of confidence. I still remember Foley's in reference to his hand-picked guy, Will Muschamp.
IF...there is a 5 year plan, you are not supposed to be "there" until 5 years later. Where you are until then doesn't line up as 1/5 each year. If we win the SEC in year five, no one will care how many we won in years one and two. Look at Missouri...lots of wins...we will win the SEC before they do.
Not on hot seat … today ? If said to stop the bleeding, I suspect that recruits and their advisors are too savvy for that.
If you hop in the car for a 5 hour drive from Orlando to the Keys you expect to be moving toward your target...4 hours of driving later you dont want to find out youre nearing Macon Georgia. At some point you have to head the right direction to warrant continuing to move in that direction.
I am listening to Shane Matthews right now about how he feels about BN. Some, here, need to hear Shane's take, because it is from a different perspective. As far as playcalling, he says Napier is fine. I noticed he did not use glowing words, though. Predicting next year, he says, it will depend on who we end up getting in the portal. He mentioned there's a lot going on that Gator fans are not aware of; and the context was the commits we lost and players in the portal being offered way more money to go elsewhere by other collectives. Shane was not dissing on our collective, but he was stating a fact. He wonders what's going to happen, when student athletes stop receiving payments from collectives. He says he won't scrutinize BN because he doesn't really know everyone on the roster, and it's hard to say what should and should not be done. Shane says the coach knows better than anyone else what should be done, because he knows his players and what they can and cannot do. Personally, I think that means myself and every other fan on this forum needs to be measured in their analysis of Gator football and use Shane's self-imposed limitation. Because, as Shane says, no one knows the team as the coaches do! Smart, smart, smart!!!
Does this mean the collectives are on the hot seat ? After 11-14 and closing out two seasons at 0-8 and with the latest recruiting class tumbling fro #3 to #16 in eleven days, shouldn’t somebody’s fanny be feeling some heat ?
Actually, what Shane said is that some schools are offering ridiculous money, and there's a question about some collectives that are doing this--but, it's elsewhere and not with the good guys!. This is what many have been fearing, how can some of these schools keep coughing up this kind of money. The answer seems to be that they can't, and a day of reckoning is coming. I know some have complained about NIL, and I'm glad the Gators haven't gotten out over their skis. I guess we will as judgment day comes; but, from what I can tell, the issues of offering exorbitant money is not with us!
Optimistically, he got no farther than Lake City before he noticed the sun was setting on the wrong side of I-75.
It doesn’t change the man’s proper use of analogy. The Keys are a long ways from Gainesville. And we can get impatient on such a drive. But the next stop you expect to see is Ocala … and soon.
