Turns out I was wrong about DeSantis. He still doesn't realize that politically he is a dead man walking. It looks like Ron will stay in the race at least through the South Carolina primary. Ironically his continued presence should benefit Haley especially in New Hampshire considering that the overwhelming majority of votes from Meatball Ron would probably be cast for Trump if DeSantis did drop out.
The party of law and order voting for the guy indicted for 91 felonies. I forgot, though, that they’re only for law and order when it takes their side. Lolol.
"Show me the man, and I'll find you the crime." - Lavrentiy Beria, Stalin's chief of secret police, would be proud of these 91 indictments.
Actually the presence of DeSantis in South Carolina would help Haley considering that Meatball Ron and Trump are competing for the same voters. Although I don't think that he has expressly said it DeSantis is essentially campaigning on the premise that he is a younger version of Trump without the original's baggage. Haley on the other hand is presenting herself as more of an actual alternative to Trump.
Cute. The difference is that if after the documents were discovered in Biden's garage he notified the government and welcomed the FBI to investigate their presence and additionally has cooperated with the special counsel investigating the presence of the documents. Trump on the other hand claimed victimization when the FBI searched Mar-a-Lago and claims the appointment of a special counsel whom he has incessantly attacked is a Witch Hunt. Biden gave 'voluntary interview' to special counsel investigating his handling of classified docs Trump says Mar-a-Lago was "raided" as FBI executes search warrant - CBS News Trump calls special counsel ‘thug’ and ‘Trump hater’ hours before court appearance on handling of classified documents A side-by-side look at the Trump, Biden classified documents
In Iowa, half of Haley voters said they would vote Biden if Trump was the nominee. She is the nominee for anti-Trump Republicans. DeSantis is in the Trump lane, hoping for Trump to be removed. He has no path forward if Trump stays in the race. I agree that DeSantis in South Carolina will help Haley, but I still think Trump rolls to the nomination. Which reflects poorly on the modern GOP.
Not sure this fits into this thread.....but thought it might be of interest to the forum members here........
Perhaps, but I’ll stop worrying about the possibility when I know he’s no longer a threat. All we gotta do is win this election and then he and the MAGA movement go away forever once the head of their king snake has been cut off.
Reading 538, it looks like Haley's gains in New Hampshire have come at DeSantis' expense. She's polling at 30.6% while DeSantis is polling at 5.4%. That and the possibility that Trump could make an unforced error considering his impulsiveness and tendency to shoot from the hip. Very unlikely that it will happen since even if Trump does make a significant verbal gaffe his supporters will probably give him a pass. Back in 2016 I thought that Trump's statement in reference to John McCain that he didn't think people who were captured were heroes or his statement that he never had to ask for forgiveness would hurt him and they had virtually not effect. Even the Entertainment Tonight tape in which the Donald said that he could grab women by their genitalia didn't hurt him. Politically Donald Trump is the ultimate "Teflon Don".
Most polls are showing the guy indicted for 91 felonies winning the WH in November. Frankly, that's not me trying to rub it in your face. I find it extremely troublesome.
Yep, but DeSantis doesn't have to answer the inevitable question: "how did it feel to get thumped by 30 in your home state?" Not until March 19th at least. So he could conceivably take a couple of third place finishes in stride and focus on the aftermath when it will be a two-man race. That said, he ain't winning a single state, but still.. he's the definite #2 in this race. I don't see a path forward for Haley if she gets beat by 30+ in her home state and by all indications, that's what's going to happen.
And yet, DeSantis can’t even get the endorsement of a single Senator in his own state. DeSantis is losing momentum, supporters and donors everyday, whereas Haley is growing in every aspect every day. DeSantis is far removed from being the second candidate on this race.
Yeah, we will see soon enough. According to 538 at least, Trump is leading DeSantis by more than 40 points in Florida. Of course, Trump is now a full time Floridian himself, but that's still going to be a major blow to DeSantis if that pans out. Florida : President: Republican primary : 2024 Polls
