I recall some saying that the Bucs should be seeking a top draft pick QB. Now they've won their division and defeated the 2022-23 NFL runner-up Philadelphia Eagles. Here's what some of our residents had to say about coach Todd Bowles, winner of tonight's playoff game 32-9 vs. the Eagles. Usernames redacted to save y'all the embarrassment.

A lot of folks were dumping on Bowles, they thought the team would just quit on him. Looks like he ain't so bad. Bucs are moving on!

As someone who lives in Tampa, the majority, me included, hate Bowles and want him fired. They could win the Super Bowl and the majority will still want him fired. This is not a good team. The Bucs were the least bad team in a horrible division. Getting a slumping and injured Eagles team was just dumb luck.
Sadly this win will probably save his job and get Mayfield a new contract.

100% agreed, Bowles has proven himself to be an average at best head coach throughout his career. This win was great but it's a bit of an overreaction to start changing that narrative yet.

I don't know about so many hating Bowles. Certainly not in my circles (perhaps not beloved, but also not hated).

As for last night, my first thought was that the Bucs looked great, BECAUSE the Eagles played like shit.

I think that stands on the offense side (when Bucs had ball)--even w 5 dropped passes, it didn't even matter. Bucs were getting first downs at will.

Bucs D however, made the Eagles O look inept. DL shut down run and pressured Hurts all night. DBs looked like they had an easy night.

Bakers Mayfield is a gamer. Was hoping to see Trask this season, but must confess, Baker earned his spot in spades.

    Go Bucs!!

A lot of folks have a bone to pick with Bowles because they feel he's sabotaging Kyle Trask's career. Now instead of giving him even the tiniest bit of credit, it's the ol' "The Eagles lost, the Bucs didn't win" excuse. Gotta love sports fans lol

None of the quotes above are from me. I have a generally favorable view of Bowles but he is at best a mid level NFL head coach and probably never a Super Bowl caliber coach.

But all of this talk of being "content" with a mediocre team, what exactly do you expect? The Bucs won the Super Bowl a few years ago and have been in the playoffs every year since then. They don't get the high picks anymore! The league is wired to make it hard to stay on top. All the bad teams get the best draft picks. The Bucs barely have free agent money because they have to pay all their good draft picks who won them a Super Bowl. The NFL is hard. The Bucs are doing about as well as possible given the circumstances.

Do you save up this stuff or did you spend hours rummaging through past posts to collect it. That’s a ton of work just for an I told you so

Bowles was a bad head coach for the Jets. He's an excellent DC and this year's Bucs team has overachieved. They have played very well the last 6 weeks, but I don't think Bowles is the long term answer in Tampa. However, what's going on with them now probably buys him a couple extra years.

Not a Bowles fan but he is winning so I guess that's good. Baker Mayfield however is fools gold and has no consistency. Now the Bucs sit in a draft position that keeps a mediocre head coach and a non consistent QB going into next year. Couldn't ask for a worse scenario for a fan that wants a rebuild. Just my 2 cents as a fan.

I was hating on Bowles during the preseason for having a kangaroo court QB battle. Obviously, I wanted Trask to get the job. That said, it’s hard for anyone to argue against that Bowles made the correct decision. While I am not a Baker Mayfield fan, I can still be happy for the guy. He’s really resurrected his career, and looks sharp. He’s played well all season. Not gaudy stats, but respectable, with some timely plays in pressure situations.

He's earned another year, but we're still not winning a SB with him.

"Couldn't ask for a worse scenario?"
LOL- try being a Panthers fan with the worst record in the NFL, NO FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS, and a terrible organization and ownership.
When Distant Gator as a fan is smarter and better than the GM it's hard to have hope.

Riiiight. Well, the computer didn't save those posts on its own so I think the point still stands. Not sure I'd exert that much effort to clap back at Bucs fans on a non-Bucs board but to each their own I guess.

I should introduce you to my wife. Y'all can argue about what I said or did 10 years ago, then I could go on to have some drink and make brand new man screw ups that y'all could argue about 10 years for now...
