How many championships these coaches got? With the exception of Calipari with a whopping 1 ring at UK, they haven’t done much with this supposed ref advantage. We need to focus completely on the basketball side, not the officiating.
I’ve been to three road/neutral games this year… Pitt, Baylor, and Richmond. Even in the 95-91 neutral site road loss to a very good ranked Baylor team, they played tough. It’s definitely going to be the roughest atmosphere they’ve played in this year, though. Tennessee is also arguably the toughest opponent they’ll have faced. I’m hoping that WCJr, Pullin, and Kugel can get going and stay hot the whole game. We’ll need it.
With the game being moved to 5 pm and with the weather the way it is, maybe the Vols won't have a full crowd of screaming, toothless fans. Florida needs to beat a ranked team. Hope it's today.
These coaches get their teams to the dance. That’s where it can happen. If we don’t get there this year, it will shine a spotlight on under achieving coaches fair or not. As for focusing on just basketball, our bigs need to compliment the scoring column more to help the guard wings more open looks.
Well Mike White did that and 50% of the board said it wasn’t enough. They still jump over themselves to criticize him over a 12-4 start at UGA. Personally, I agree with you that being a perennial tournament team is enough because as you said, “That’s where it can happen.” Where fans start getting silly is getting upset with not being a perennial Sweet 16 or higher team. So in short I’m agreeing with you, but from a different context.
Four degrees right now with a chill factor of minus four in Nashville. Tonight I believe it is going down to 1 degree, chill factor 10 below. Coldest weather I have seen up here in many years. 6-7 inches of snow on the ground not melting, reminds me of living in Columbus, Ohio for three years.
That part of East Tennessee got pounded yesterday and more coming today with close to single-digit temperatures probably also coming shortly after sundown. There will be a crowd but not nearly the crowd if 7-8" of snow was gone. Maybe they're worried about the refs being able to escape? LOL!
Ha ha! So many great quotes from Hoosiers. Shooter - “I got me a humdinger of a suit, I was married in that suit.”
[QUOTE="As for focusing on just basketball, our bigs need to compliment the scoring column more to help the guard wings more open looks.[/QUOTE] Our bigs need to get more entry passes to compliment the scoring column. Tyrese will always get his share of shots, but both Micah and Alex attempted only 3 shots against Arkansas.
Did you not see the conversations that sprung out of it. I was not expecting ten replies. We had respectable hardworking Americans really suggesting WClay as a nickname. How do you even pronounce that smoothly? Plus…
1 key of the game I'll be watching for.... Can our 2 bigs, whoever is on at center and power forward, control the boards enough to let Pullin and Clayton get out in transition and push UT for easy layups? If we have to keep Pullin and Richards/Kugel back to help rebounding then UT will be able to set up their defense and slow down our attack which is not good for our guys on the road.
I guess the phrase “let’s get ready to rumble!” Is stuck in my mind as I wait till tip off. Either way it is going to be a tough fight. They will know after today what playing in the SEC on the road means. Wins aren’t easy and you have to be aggressive the whole game. Either way this will be what tournament time ball is. A learning lesson…..urrrggghhh, repeat the phrase!
Remember that the world doesn't end if we lose this game. A win would be awesome, but looking at the schedule, this is likely the least winnable of the season.
