Must be a politician--- ChatGPT will lie, cheat and use insider trading when under pressure to make money, research shows Scientists trained GPT-4 to be an AI trader for a fictional financial institution — and it performed insider trading when put under pressure to do well. "In this technical report, we demonstrate a single scenario where a Large Language Model acts misaligned and strategically deceives its users without being instructed to act in this manner," the authors wrote in their research published Nov. 9 on the pre-print server arXiv. "To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of such strategically deceptive behavior in AI systems designed to be harmless and honest."
In other words, market manipulation by an AI has already happened. They are just setting it up for an innocent “we didn’t know” and “gosh we don’t need regulation”.
ChatGPT is trained on human interactions, it is going to act like a human. I don't believe anyone has been able to create an AI bot that can think for itself yet. A very different challenge from self-driving cars. Which generally do a better job of following the rules of the road as written than humans do.
I will lose it if we get another “we didn’t know” like back in 08-10. Sorry asses need to go to prison. Don’t really think there needs to be more regulation and oversight, just harsh charges and punishment for insider trading. That, IMO was where they could have nailed people last time.
Robot trades are manipulating the market every millisecond. Other robots serve as the “policy agents” on acceptable trading risks set by other robots. It’s a house of cards.
I agree and it has been going on for years. Big traders and hedge funds have known how to trade to set off triggers in the program trading and change the technicals for pushing 40 years. AI and advanced programs have just made it a more exact science, and less prone to letting things get out of hand. It is still a house cards that no one will want to be in when it tumbles. Gotta be ready to move quick, not just loaded up with index and date funds.
