i have so many favorite moments watching kirsti play. This has to be one of my all time favorite play she made.
Kirsti is one of my all-time favorites. I think of that 2019 Team USA. She was on the team for the World Cup of Softball but was taken off before the Olympics. If Bubba Nickles was a better player than Kirsti, I would eat my jock. They did not want 4 UF players on the team. A sign that life goes on: Kirsti has 2 children Taylor Schwa is set to deliver in a month Kelsey has a child and is an assistant coach at Ohio State
Kelsey, Kirsti and Taylor… three of my all time favorites.. all in that 2013 class. This 2023 class has the potential to rival that class.
Kirsti Merritt is from Lake Panasoffkee, FL and graduated from South Sumter HS, the same HS I graduated from in 1969. Of course, one of my all time favorite Gators.
Even though Stephanie Tofft was a transfer in 2013, I have always considered her a part of that outstanding class. That class set itself up for the 2014 and 2015 run.
This countdown is awesome and I've enjoyed the behind-the-scenes stories about the player's families. Here's mine. I was at an away game at Tennessee. There was a Florida fan with his wife and kid -- probably 28 years old and dressed like a frat-boy yuppie. He was loud and obnoxious, yelling a bunch of rude stuff about the Tennessee players, to the obvious ire of the other fans. It got so bad that I went up to him and quietly said in his ear, "You are giving UF a bad look." After challenging me to meet him in the parking lot after the game, he quieted down for the rest of the game. Later, Nicole Dewitt's sister (I forget her name) came up to me on the way out, introduced herself, and thanked me. I thought that was very cool. She didn't offer to go with me to the parking lot, however.
I think for 18 and 17, I am going to do two posting. Emily and Skylar are current players. I want to honor them. However, my all time favorite is Mandy; and also Lauren deserves some recognition.
Maybe we should nominate uf as poster of the year. As Johnny says this countdown is awesome and I agree. Kudos to uf. Great way to honor and promote these ladies and create a very positive outlook for upcoming season.
