Values are not the same as policies in my opinion. Trump possesses none of traditional values, e.g., honesty, modesty, compassion, kindness, etc, etc., etc. if Iowans want to hold their noses and say they like his policies, that’s different….and at least honest.

WSJ already called it for Trump by a wide margin.

Not really, especially if Haley was the one who stays. DeSantis and Ramaswamy voters are at least as likely to go to Trump as they are to go to Haley.

Said it before, it's only a matter of days (maybe even only one) before DeSantis withdraws and most likely endorses Trump.

I'm watching CNN where they are pulling ballots out of popcorn buckets. Or, as the Republican Party probably calls it, a secure election. Much more secure than those dropboxes. Or something.

if you look carefully, you can see the lumps under Bootsie's slacks. He's never taken em off. Though, to his credit I hear it has been only handies since he announced.

I was emphasizing the person's gear (i.e. we basically dress up like astronauts to take our dog out). ;) But we do have a place called Spirit Mountain here in town. You might be surprised by the terrain in places like Lutsen, MN up the shore a couple hours.

To be fair, you are basing this off a couple interviews from folks at the polls/caucus? Pretty sure we can find idiots to answer a few questions in every state. Wouldn't glean too much from it.

not knocking it. I've skied Georgia & Missouri, but fun fact. MN's highest elevation is about 1000 ft lower than Colorado's lowest. Amazin' yet true. We're really high here...:)

What causes support of Trump is a really fascinating question that you’ve done a nice job analyzing. I’m not sure we can cram the entire movement into just some bored retirees that are reading some extremist stuff on the internet. There are many real people that really feel the draw of Trump.

A recent NYT opinion argued that Trump hit on three big issues: 1) immigration, 2) negative outlook on the state of the country, and 3) bias of institutions. And then giving some other reasons, including some like what you are describing.

This part seems right to me:

I think its easy for us from our vantage to categorize Trump supporters in simple terms, but an attitude of “only morons reading extremist stuff in their barns” is a losing strategy. I don’t think Trump supporters neatly fit into the box you’ve made for them. In her excellent book, I Never Thought of it that Way, liberal journalist Monica Guzman explains that her Latino parents voted for Trump and even goes so far as to say that, if she were them, she would have done the same.

Americas great white hope lost 7-6 6-2.
Tough draw though, she had to play Swiatek. She’s the world number one.

Kenin does have an all American story, I root for her when she plays.
