My posting of this topic has nothing to do with MLK Jr. Day. I just happened to be at the hotel breakfast area and saw NBC on where they were literally worshipping Coco Gauff for a first round win over an appointment that should be an easy first round win. That and that alone is what got me thinking about this topic politically.

At the end of the day, women’s tennis wants a dominant female player to emerge. They don’t have one and are dying for one. Coco seemed like the most likely candidate after last year. If a white female tennis player that looked like a young Kate Becksdale or Kate Hudson won three of the four majors, her face would be everywhere.

interesting you feel like a victim. Seems like a tough way to go thru life getting angry over minor, ambiguous issues.

This OP c.omes across like a white supremacist inferiority complex. Instead of making noteworthy accomplishments, denigrate others as compensation

In my mind, the only thing as ridiculous as this post is people responding to it.

I saw a white person on a TV commercial last night. I guess he could have been Hispanic.

I watch a lot of tennis.
Kenin’s win was seen as more as a one off, kinda came out of nowhere. and then she quickly fell off the map.
Gauff has been seen as the next great thing for years, and is finally fulfilling that potential. She won her first 500, 1000, and GS titles all in the last year, and she’s only 19. If she peaks and slides, the next one up will get that title.
Kenin plays tonight btw, looking forward to watching that.

I think that’s the point. She was the focus of attention without being anywhere near as capable as Gauff. Another example close to our hearts: Tim Tebow. At one point, I believe he was the most celebrated athlete in the entire country in any sport. None of the QBs that followed in his wake, such as Lamar Jackson, had near the attention.

The fact is that the media will cover whatever stories will people to tune in. Right now, the people I see in the news the most seem to be Taylor Swift and Donald Trump. Is the media pushing these two on us? I don’t think so. I think we just really want to hear about those two for whatever reason.

And a victim who declares he "could care less," though his posts indicate otherwise. I'm 99.99% sure louisiana is a recurrent return of the original Orlandogator who makes periodic appearances in alternate identities to complain about the way life is dealing him a raw deal.

Always the victim. Some years back he complained his phone had been knocked out of his hand by a Taco Bell employee who bumped into him and caused it to fall to the restaurant's floor and break. Orlando was unhappy because Taco Bell and the employee who bumped into him refused to pay him damages for the phone.

In one or another of his several GC aliases he has over the last 5 or so years made his many disappointments and dissatisfactions known to the forum, always looking to place or project the blame on others, failing to see how his own actions and attitudes are the source of his unhappiness.

But I will say this about his threads and posts - they are entertaining. In the same way one might view a train wreck.

Why say a train wreck? There are very few train wrecks compared to car wrecks, annually. The media should be giving more attention to all the car wrecks and the deaths they cause. But instead they focus on train wrecks, even though train wrecks are far less accomplished at killing people. I'm tired of the media forcing underperfoming train wrecks down my throat.

Agreed. It's 100% that guy. Every time he reappears, it's to push his white supremacist talking points, complain about women, attack immigrants, and/or talk about how America is going down the drain because of people of color, women, and/or immigrants.

I actually feel a little sorry for the guy. He seems to be unhappy and unable to function socially. But I always remind myself that he's the one bringing this on himself. He's racist, misogynistic, and uninterested in changing.

Wonder if the OP is able to enjoy the white half of Ben Shelton?

And while I love the Aussie Open it is a far cry from the other majors. I'm old enough to remember when a lot of the stars didn't even bother to play in it

I can only imagine how much media attention Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce would be getting if they were non White.

Orlandogator used to complain because he felt that black and Latino men were taking white women away from white men. A few days ago, Louisianagator posted about how upset he was when he found out that a white woman he liked and found attractive was dating a Latino man. It's 100% him.

    **Possible spoilers**

Unfortunately, Kenin was defeated in the first round, and Jessica Pegula lost in the second. From what I can tell, the remaining American women are Coco Gauff, Alycia Parks, Emma Navarro, Sloane Stephens, and Amanda Anisimova. American men have multiple guys left as well.
