Until he ran into UT and Michigan! They were very lucky to beat UT and had no chance against Mich!

But he should do ok if the Bama fans do not think that he is a furriner!

Saban had already been in the South long enough to become a naturalized Southerner.

But the SEC is going to be a little rougher especially after he runs out of Saban's recruits.

He may have a little trouble recruiting in the South but Brian Kelly did not have too much of a problem.

    We shall see.

Kirby will definitely curb stomp him if he can. As well as anyone in the SEC.

Congrats to UF alum Jedd Fisch, who appears to be in line to replace Kalen DeBoer at Washington:

That's a home run hire for Washington if they get him.

Maybe, great year this year, but he has had only one winning season as a HC. If true, sucks for Arizona fans who stuck with him the first 2 seasons when he went 6-18 and yea I know he inherited a mess.

Saban is from W. Virginia....not exactly the North pole. Also, those Bama fans couldn't care less if their coach was from Mars as long as he wins football games.

WV is part of Appalachia - coal mining country. What some would call a border state. But certainly not a Southern state in the tradition of Alabama and Mississippi, etc.

The people in the small towns of Alabama expect a winner but they want it done in "the fine tradition of the South".

Winning is not enough for many of them. Just like it is not in the rural areas Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Texas and other Deep South states.

To deny that is to misunderstand what the South means to Southerners including rural Floridians.

    JMHO.

The large cities like Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, Birmingham, New Orleans, Austin, Dallas, etc are not as Southern as the small towns in the South. Which still cling to the ole Southern way which is football on Friday nights and Saturdays.

You're just one step short of truly understanding Alabama fans. I stand by my statement that Alabama fans won't care if their coach is from Mars as long as he wins. What I didn't say is that if he doesn't win enough, using another colorful colloquial phrase, then they'll turn on an outsider quicker than a NY second.
BTW, the Hatfields were from WV and the McCoy's from Kentucky tell me what the difference was between them?

The state now known as West Virginia broke away from Virginia to join the US at the start of the Civil War.

The only difference is that KY fought on the Confederate side and WVA did not. Which is why VA is considered Southern and WVA is considered Appalachian and sometimes Northern.

You mean remain in the US, unlike the Tidewater elites who looked down on and didn't care about the deplorables in the western part of the state.

Attention, grammar police forced to take action.
I know I'll probably attract some bacon here but this thread is near the top every day and it irks me to read it when it shouldn't be that way.

Please fix title! It should be...
Who will be the next Football Head Coach of Alabama?

Since this thread won't die even though the question has been answered, can we fix the grammar in the title?
"Who represents the subject of the sentence and therefore does not have an "m" added, "whom" is only used when it's the object of a sentence.

When in doubt try substituting pronouns: such as she and her....
She will be the next Football Head Coach Her will be the next Football Head Coach

Because the pronoun is the subject of this sentence, the subjective she sounds right and her doesn’t. That means the word you want is the subjective who.

I noticed it too but decided not to correct OP, because it's just one of many errors that get posted every day. I probably make some too. The worst is when people get players' names wrong. It's 'Percy Harvey' with an 'e.'

Good for him. Washington seems a good place to win and keep one's job for a long time. Except for Jimmy Lake.
