I didn't say 2 million. I said 2 BILLION and it wasn't for some golf course or hotel. If that doesn't concern you then nothing the Trump team says or does could ever bother you. Is what they did illegal? Probably not, but highly unethical. I could ask the same to you. What crime did Biden commit? You're so stuck on defending Trump no matter what. If Trump committed a crime he should be arrested. If Biden committed a crime then he should be arrested. The difference between Trump supporters and everyone else is they will defend Trump no matter what he does.

POTUS is barred from receiving "emoluments" per the Constitution. But, Drumpf never cared about that, did he?

91 felony counts against Drumpf, but none include blatant emoluments clause violations or blatant obstruction of justice. Could add these to the pile!

So now you’re complaining about something unethical but not illegal? Come on man! By the way, educate me on this one. Where did Trump get the $2 million in “unethical” funds.

If you're jockeying for an early nomination for Funny Bastard of the Year, you have my full-fledged support. This was a really good one.

I think he/she/it/them/xem/eir/xyrs might have meant $2 billion. As in the $2 billion Jared Kushner (ie not Trump) secured as an investment from the Saudis after Trump left office, which is perfectly legal. Problem is not only was it perfectly legal, it makes some sense, as Jared Kushner was an ultra successful, near billionaire himself before Trump was ever POTUS and obviously enhanced his resume with his time in the Trump WH, Abraham accords and such.

LBoy, when I said you make some valid points I was referring directly to your point about Bill Barr. Yes, I remember watching his interview on Fox News where he said that he believed that Trump could be convicted on some of the charges that he faced but doubted that he would face any jail time. It’s not that I don’t believe any of the charges don’t have merit, it’s the fact that the Dems have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at Trump, the leading candidate on the Republican side to replace Joe Biden and now Dems in certain states are removing him from the ballot. If there is anything that threatens democracy as we know it, this treatment of your number one rival would be it.
But this is what I don’t understand in your response that if the Republicans had any evidence against Joe they would reveal it. Here again, if you watched Fox News, and yes I realize most liberals feel that Fox News is the devil, you would know that the Republicans have built a mountain of evidence against the Biden family, primarily Hunter, Joe and Joe’s brother and have started impeachment proceedings against Joe. That completely contradicts your feeling that there seems to be no evidence against Joe.
If you will, please go back and read my original post to you, and as you offered , give me your response to my thoughts on the current charges against Trump. You seem to be fair in your responses and someone that I could have a reasonable conversation with.
Let me ask you this. Do you prefer an open border where Joe has allowed 10 million of the worlds poorest people who are illegal immigrants into this country or do you prefer a nearly closed border which we had under Trump? When Trump attempts to close the border he is called a racist or even worse, Hitler! Why is Joe flooding the country with 10 million illegals and counting? Because he will one day ask that they be allowed to vote and presto, 10 million new Dem votes.

Thanks Okeechobee. I’m watching the Florida womens BBall game against UGA and not paying attention like I should. Of course he said $2 billion and I keep typing $2 million! Thanks for the education and explaining that.

Jared kushner was in charge of Middle East relations while in office. There's evidence of them over inflating the arms deal to Saudi arabia. I find it very strange that as soon as Trump leaves office the Prince gives 2 billion to an inexperienced investment company. At the end of the day does it really matter? If Joe Biden did something wrong then I think he should go to jail. If Trump did something wrong his supporters will defend him to the bitter end

So you are saying you think some of the charges have merit, but seem to indicate since he is the presumptive Republican candidate he wouldn’t shouldn’t be charged with them? Seems like he should either be charged, or he shouldn’t. Some of the charges are serious.

No I don’t watch Fox News. But what I’ve seen from all other outlets is there is nothing that implicates Joe. I have seen nothing issued by congress about specific offenses. They are proceeding with impeachment but there are no specific charges. If there is specific evidence and charges, please be out with it. If Biden were guilty I’d rather it be out there and D’s can replace him.

Only thing Ive ever heard that there was this or that check between one family member of other that by all accounts were a loan, and fairly modest amounts. There is lots of conjecture regarding Hunter and then Joe, but nothing at all specific. If there were there would be specific charges. Impeachments typically have specific charges.

    I will do so.

First, the border has nothing to do with Trump charges. It is a separate issue and a legit one.

My feelings on the border is that much of the problems are due to the flawed process, but to a degree Biden made it worse. I think Biden would be willing to make some changes but many on the left are so Anti Trump they’ve gravitated to defacto open borders advocates which I strongly disagree with it. Having said that I think the wall is only a partial solution in select areas. The big issue right now is people stepping foot into the US and demanding asylum. The asylum process has to be reformed. Many democrats don’t want to, and many Republicans dont want to either because they prefer to keep on using it against Democrats.

When you combine Trumps very inexplicable friendly behavior to Putin, the fact there was meddling in the election by Russia, the fact that Trump called for Russia to to hack DNC records, and there were meetings between Trump operatives and Russian operatives about potential information, and combine that with people like Manafort who directly worked for Russian interests, there was a hell of a lot of smoke. But ultimately there was not enough evidence to prove conspiracy between Trump and Russia. Most likely that did not happen. The fact that they didn’t impeach was the correct call. There was direct evidence of obstruction of Justice but proceeding on obstruction when there isn’t enough core evidence against what he was supposedly obstructing would be perceived as overreach.

Both impeachments were proper. In the first Trump threatened to withhold congressionally appropriated military aid to Ukraine unless Ukraine investigated his political rivals, based upon wacky conspiracy theories that have been repeatedly shown to have no merit.

As to Jan 6th, Trump absolutely egged on the crowd, he failed to intervene, he called for Pence and others to intervene and nullify the election results, among other things. If that isn’t impeachable, I don’t know what is.

Trump clearly had corrupt business dealings and has lost billions to investors and debt holders. He has seriously overstated assets in certain filings and then dramatically understated them in tax filings. This is a civil trial. I have little doubt he is guilty. I have no issue from being banned from doing business in NY or anywhere else. He is a crook, con man and a fraudster.

However, to charge him with these specific things now, years after the fact, smacks of political retribution.

Also, as to the whole porn star stuff, I think there technically was a legal infraction there, but the novel way they are going about it to elevate it to felony status is a bit of a stretch. Again I think the NY DA did this out of political pressure. These charges probably should not have been brought.

Go look up what Barr has said on the issue. Or Chris Christie who is a prosecutor. They both think the charges are legit, and there is no comparison to what Trump did and what Biden or Pence did.

Biden and Pence returned documents when identified. Actually I think they found them on their own and came forward. Trump was given several chances to return them, refused to and lied about it.

The number and seriousness of the documents was exponentially more with Trump vs Biden or Pence.

Biden or Pence didn’t hold on to Iranian war plans and brag about them to civilians. On tape.

Biden or Pence didn’t reveal top secret nuclear submarine positions to rich friends, after they left office.

It’s like comparing a kid who accidentally forgets to pay for a pack of gum vs someone committing armed robbery. It’s not even close.

This is the issue. Trump says so much crazy stuff and lies so much, every day, then when he says or does something serious, people say “that’s just Trump being Trump”. Go find 10,000 votes can be taken multiple ways. Seems to me he is using his presidential power to do something to change the outcome. But ultimately what his specific intent was should be determined by a jury.

Sure, some or most of the charges are politically motivated. But that doesn’t mean some aren’t legit charges. I think the NY stuff should have been left alone but the federal and GA charges are totally legit.

This whole Hunter Biden thing is Trump flooding the zone with shit to destract from his own charges. One has nothing to do with the other.

I don’t know anything about the $20 million.

    Is Ukraine a US enemy?

Did Hunter take money from China? Is that illegal? What about Trumps kids who took money from China?

There is zero doubt in my mind that Hunter is a grifter and he absolutely was peddling influence based upon his last name. That is bad, and unfortunate but it isn’t explicitly illegal and there is nothing to tie that to Joe Biden from what I’ve seen or heard.

Joe could even put Hunter in charge of China policy. He's no less qualified than Jared and Ivanka were to be in charge of Middle East policy. Then when he gets $2 Billion (yes, with a B) from China immediately following his father's term we should all just ignore it.

LBoy, Lots of interesting thoughts that you posted here. I enjoyed reading them. I agree with a lot of your thoughts and disagree with some. I think we can agree that the main thing is we want whatever is best for all of the citizens of our great country and will support whoever it is that can provide it!

If I was Joe, I’d disown Hunter as a son. He’s already pulled it off with his granddaughter. I don’t think many people would even notice.

That would be the easy way out perhaps (though R’s would be highly critical). But being a father - a good father - means absorbing the hits and hurts your child inflicts while continuing to help them. Family > Politics

Does RFK, Jr really have a chance to win or will he be the de facto "determinator" of the 2024 presidential election? Interesting opinion piece which links to a NYTs poll that indicates a health 24% of "registered voters" would vote for RFK, Jr as an independent over JB or DT. Support in under 45 y/o is even higher. The poll is from Oct23 ..... would be interesting to see and update.

Opinion: Democratic and Republican elites fear RFK Jr.’s growing path to victory (msn.com)
