Heard sports guys talking about the temps at the TCU game on the Sirius this morning. It was 100+ degrees. One of the CO studs plays both ways (WR & CB). Stat line was insane, something like 120 plays, 100 receiving yds, 1TD and 1int on defense. That's just . . . I also heard that Dallas had more than 50 days above 100, which is unusual, if not a record. Hang in there.
Believe it or not, folks do outdoors throughout the winter up here, even in northern MN. I went nordic skiing at 0 degrees and sweat my a$$ off. We mostly stay indoors, but as long as it's not more than 10 below, one can at least layer up and cover the face, etc.
I can't zip up my LL Bean parka without sweating buckets unless it's zero or lower which can be a bitch when I'm shoveling snow. Don't even put it on till it's around 10°. Depend entirely on layers between 10° and 25°. Jogging gloves from 18° to 35°, UnderArmor winter gloves from 18° to 5°, Head ski gloves after that. Wish I knew to do all that when I moved to Chicago 35 years ago. Was wearing a tux at my brother's outdoor wedding reception in PC the following August. Didn't dip below 100 till sundown. I'll take bone-chilling cold over +100° any day. There's no limit to how much you can layer up but layering down will land you in jail.

Damn on Aug 12th of this year here in Orlando we were in about a 30 way tie for the 10th hottest temperature ever in Orlando. Highest Temperatures in Orlando History
yeah, last month was just chill in Orlando The Orlando area just saw its hottest week on record Orlando, Daytona Beach just saw their hottest month ever on record
More extreme weather events yesterday. Weather warnings in at least 49 states, massive flooding in the mid-Atlantic, as well as Tennessee and other areas. Tornados across the South, blizzards in the Plains and in the NW. Possibly more next week This is a non-exhaustive list - the frequency of extreme weather - the new normal, and getting worse.
Discussions of hottest ever seem incomplete without mentioning this weekend’s cold. It was minus 4 at kickoff of last night’s Chiefs-Dolphins game. Windchill of minus 20 Today's game in Buffalo has been pushed to Monday because of cold temps and high winds … Windchills of minus 45 for the Iowa caucuses ….
We had historic storms on Wednesday and Saturday with massive coastal flooding and damage. Roads, houses, sea walls destroyed, some of them have stood for 300+ years. We also had a massive inland flood a couple weeks ago when 6" of rain fell in the snowy western mountains and destroyed many, many roads and bridges isolating communities for days. Climate change denialists are pretty quiet in Maine this January. This feels biblical
The footage from Maine seems almost unbelievable. Seems like it will be incredibly difficult to recover - so much flooding
Yeah. We're in a coastal town. On a cape about a mile from the ocean as the crow flies. Two of the roads four roads we use to "get out" are currently destroyed. One was already set to be removed permanently due to it's low elevation and cost. This is going to hasten that.
