teams on the verge of titles or playoffs have more to offer. I think major $ plus title opportunities is a big advantage. If not a team ready to compete for titles you are not likely going to get the Evan Stewart and Isiah Bonds of the portal. UNLESS…you pay a ton more over market. Similar to any pro sports free agents. You see teams that are not title contenders sign free agent studs but normally to over market deals. remains to be seen if players who sign only for most money in college for like 1 season before NFL actually give it their all and make a difference for the team. what I would like to know…which scenario is UF 1)does UF collectives/NIL have the money to offer / attract big name studs and for now we choose not to overpay (since we are not yet a team competing for titles missing one or two pieces) 2) we have the money but will never be over aggressive or wont play in the gray areas like our peers 3)we do not have the money if I knew where we stood in relation to 1-3…would help with my expectations on what type of win/loss/titles I could expect from the program.
No. He was originally at I think Oklahoma state or some OSU program and transferred to Washington. I’m not sure why he isn’t just going to the draft. Very highly rated kid.
I think some of these teams have blank checks, and they know how much it costs. They don’t have to ask permission they just sign it
We are 64th in portal rankings. Our transfer game is not good. 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings Our average transfer in rating is 13 out of 16 in the SEC. Transfer out is 9th in the SEC. But we are saved by quantity where we have the most in the SEC. If we limited to say the top 10 players transferring out, we’d be near the bottom in the SEC as well. In total we are 14th of 16 in transfer portal rankings only ahead of Bama and UGA who recruit HS infinitely better than we do. Schools like UGA has had a worse transfer out period, but their transfer ins are substantial. They are basically losing highly rated backups but transferring in a few elite starters.
