I read this morning that the pups have had 19hit the portal, 11 declare early for the draft. That does not include the senior class. That is close to half their roster. The new world of CFB.

It is starting to look like the days of FSU and UW relying on 5th year senior stocked teams with multiple years in the system to get to a playoff is going the way of the dinosaur. The product on the field is likely to suffer with more basic offenses and the winners being those coaches who can install their system the quickest.

    No, that can’t be true.

You need to read the board some more. When you do you’ll learn attrition and losing players to the portal only happens to CBN.

True but still guys like Travis. Transfer portal used to get him and I believe he was at FSU for 3-4 years. I believe he’s 23. So maybe key is grabbing guys, if possible, with several years of eligibility. Billy has done that with the OT Manuel and Pup. Huge wins there by Billy. Mertz another as two years with him are huge. Still going to have to grab one year guys that hopefully we can make immediate impact

Uga will be fine. They lost a bunch of talented backups to the portal. I think the only real void was RB. They got ETN to fill that.

Interesting point. This might have the effect of simplifying offenses and defenses to achieve that quick train-up.

Not to mention the two very impactful years from Pearsall.

I would think UGA will be very talented but tske a step back. We shall see. My early pick for Sec champ is Texas.

He was actually at fsu for 5 seasons. He actually transferred to play for Willie Taggert. But never played under him. 1 season at Louisville. Covid gave him the additional year. 6 years of development can certainly help a qb.

I remember him playing against the gators in 2019 and getting crushed in the back by Greenard.

Yep. Losing backups that you replace with highly rated recruits will be the cycle for top teams.

The KEY is to not lose starting players to the portal and to acquire starting players from the portal. Everything beyond that are typically backups, busts and depth pieces.

QB is really the only spot where a backup transferring can turn into something on a consistent basis.

Top of the SEC looks like it could be more open than it has been for some time.
