I see the stats of these potential transfers and they have multiple in a category that is labeled INT. Can someone decipher this for me?
As a Spoh, roster listed him at 6 foot 1 inch tall, 175 lbs, with still another 2 years for growth......size to me isn't a concern. What I saw of him last year, didn't cause me to dismiss his physical ability?
Oh man!! Still have not done what we need to do at WR. That’s a tough one because he walks into our room and is more than likely an immediate contributor. We all talk about Jean and Mizell and they may be great but they are unproven and in year 3 the “young” thing does not resonate any where on the team. Dike is actually a very solid pick up but we need another before spring. That room is not only young but with young comes thin. An injury to EW3, Jackson, or Dike and we have immediate issues. To get where we need to go this year in the portal to help us for our season we’ve got at least four or five more additions. In the end, Billy will need to be at 15 or 16 total. By my count with the quarterback from Yale and the junior college guy we are at 10 right now. I say 15 because we are still 3 under on 85 scholarship count and with future attrition we easily will have 6-7 ships, AND only time we have to get to 85 is fall. Getting to 85 is a concern and since we still see 3 spots right now I am hoping for Hs guy Humes, WR, and Safety from Kid from Texas or kid from Washington. Most likely, I see: qb from Ark. State as 11th guy and Safety from Washington as 12th guy. That leaves spot for Humes. I say we see portal guys 13-15/16 in or around spring once we’ve had several other guys transfer. Let me say, 15-16 portal additions does not ensure 8-9 wins but of those 15-16 we will need a solid number to be impact guys. Good start there w Slack, Pup, BCD, Dike, and at least 1-2 others. Many think Bridges, Manuel, and Douglas will start or if not starting make immediate impact by playing lots of snaps. Before anything else we have to fill our roster spots. Read quite a few people talking about being close to the number this, that, and the other… Three spots open right now heading into February is cause for a little bit of concern when you consider the three or four other guys that are probably going to transfer. From this point on, We have to fill our scholarships up with experienced guys. Question is where do those guys come from?
For this year, I don’t think he was a big miss. He didn’t play one snap in his freshman season at OSU- so he actually has less playing time/experience than Jean and Mizell and would be learning a new offense. I think a CJ Daniels or Isiah Bond time experience is what we need for 2024 season.
So Jean and Mizell are unproven. What does that make Rodgers? He didn't see the field this year, and was a lower ranked recruit than both Jean and Mizell. So what leads you to believe he would be an immediate contributor? I live less than 10 miles from OSU campus. Most my friends are hardcore Buckeye homers, and they couldn't care less about Rodgers coming back.
UF coaches not guaranteeing kids to start or playing time. Has to be earned. Admire UF as they are not promising inexperienced kids starting time at expense of kids that have been loyal to our team. Different story if you bring in a starter and difference maker.
It’s more about a very thin room that’s needs more. I did not say we had to get him but: Billy wanted him and the OSU coaches, who know more than any fans, seemed to want him back as they did something to keep him from visiting Florida. we need one more receiver, for sure. he’s a former four star receiver from Florida. these things alone combined with our need for receivers makes him an immediate take. Personally speaking, I’d rather or much rather have Daniels but it looks like that ship has sailed and four years to play, from Florida, and four stars what’s not to like? I also like he’s received coaching from Hartline.
oh, I agree with you 100% but I think you would agree with me that we’re not getting either one of those guys and the question becomes who fills out that one spot where we need someone? We really need a veteran, but at this point I’m not sure we can be that choosy
Well, he had similar stats as next year's starter for Georgia (and blocks) so that has to be exciting, right?
