Pretty sure the powers that be at certain universities carry a lot of the water when it comes to recruiting. The Georgia's, LSUs and Bamas seem to recruit well regardless of coach. Kelly pulled in a hell of a class during his short time transition class and he's not known as Mr personality

Better hire than I would have hoped they'd get. But $aban was as successful as he was because he'd land 5+ 5*, 12-15 4*, & a sprinkle of 3*. He also had a ridiculous number of former HC's that would take massive demotions to be his AC's or off the field assistants.

The biggest question is can MD replicate any of that? To put it in perspective $aban's worse class was 6th and with all those ungodly advantages he only won 6 titles. (Now pd 6 is a LOT) Yes but until Kirby went to Georgia... at one point Bama had more 5* on their roster than EVERY other CFB team combined.
