Not my problem, I have no power in the decision making process or contract negotiations. I can however, tell you BN has thus far been historically bad and that is not hyperbole. Does any of this mean he can't have success in the future, no, but the best indicator of future success is past results.

I think most people are waiting to see what happens this year. No more excuses. One would think we'd see some improvement in year two but we've regressed. Same on field mistakes, same losing to teams we shouldn't, two OL coaches and our OL looked bad, now we know same strength coach was not preparing the players for SEC games. With all the money he is getting I just think most feel things should be better at this stage. Even his one big positive of recruiting kind of went to pot. Hopefully things will work out.

The Miami game will be massive. I will say I've seen people compare 2024 to 2006/2008 in terms of a young team taking a leap forward with a generational QB in the wings.

Belichick went 36-44 in his first 5 seasons (Browns) as a HC. When he went to the Pats, 1st season was a losing season, then everyone knows the story. Belichick was a great coach, however Brady came in and many feel it was due to Brady. It was a probably a combo of Brady and Belichick which meshed, had the chemistry, and set history.
CBN is running the program in a very good way. Still moves to make (OC, ST) however he is a solid guy and overall steward of the program. Obvious issue is (which many feel is most important) is the W-L record. He had a crazy year this year recruiting, losing some high profile recruits.. However he brings in the National player of the year in Lagway and an award winning Defensive Linemen and leader in McCray. IMO, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that Lagway will be our generations' Tebow. I don't know if this year or next, but I'm willing to wait and give CBN the time to finish his rebuild.
In consideration of our past 13-14 years, i believe it's worth the risk to let CBN finish this. Stability in our program is valuable and it's also the victim of what has transpired with our constant coaching turnover.

In this case we are talking 3 straight losing seasons. Hot seats are based upon performance relative to the school.

Every post on GC, X or Reddit can be super positive and it wouldn’t matter one bit. Recruits are not stupid. They know a coach at UF with 3 straight losing seasons would be on a mega hot seat. More importantly other schools would be negatively recruiting like mad. To put it on fans is just totally wrong. Do you think Kirby or Norvell won’t negative recruit if we are more positive here? Come on

Everyone is acting like it's a forgone conclusion CBN will have a 3rd straight losing season. That's what's poisoning the well.

It’s not poisoning the well. BN is in this spot due to the first two years. It has zero to do with fans.

We can be super positive but Billy will almost certainly be fired if he doesn’t win 7+ games in 2024 and 8-9+ in 2025. If you can be 500 against P5 teams in year 3 at UF then it should be over.

Fans are not going to materially influence those benchmarks positively or negatively.

Fans can help the team win more games by showing up and screaming on Saturdays. They 100% need to do that. But fans being positive or negative online won’t influence the games.

Billy is in the same boat as every major P5 school. Win enough games you get extended, lose enough you get fired.

I’m rooting for him to go undefeated every year, but I’m realistic enough to know coaches that lose lots of games get fired.

See, I think that’s where the disconnect is. The argument is over if not when Napier has a third losing season. Speaking for self, I do not think that’s a foregone conclusion, and it certainly is not my hope. The argument here is about what to do in the event of a third losing season. Some have argued to give him a fourth season no matter how badly this season goes. Personally, I am opposed to that. A fourth season should be earned. A repeat of the last two won’t earn it in my opinion.

At some point during Year 3, the AD must be let go and his most recent FB hire must hit the unemployment line as well. President leads a Search committee that doesn't include Jeremey Foley and his minions to hire a new AD and HC.

Obviously, I'm not anticipating an 8 or 9 win season.

    Yep.

For whatever reason many GC posters see “if something bad happens then this should happen” as a sign that we are rooting for something bad to happen. Or even that it’s guaranteed. I’m pretty sure we all want Napier to succeed.

He isn't recruiting like Mullen, and it's an incredibly stupid/lazy take to suggest that recruiting hasn't improved under Napier.

But but but the rAnKiNgS!!!!! Yeah, you might as well try and tell people USC was better than Washington this year because they were ranked higher in the preseason.

    Rankings without context are irrelevant.

    Recruiting is not just HS

It’s HS + transfers in - transfers out

Napier is doing better than Mullen with HS, but Mullen did better (and would do better) with transfers.

Even if we ignore Mullen transfers due to it being a different era it can easily be argued the roster at the start of Mullens last year is similar to what we will start next year with.

Is the overall talent level higher? Maybe a little but nowhere near what is needed or expected.

Lets be generous and say HS was 10th due to quality, transfer in is now 32nd, and transfer out is arguably the worst in the nation (we lost two top 10 guys). On net it seems close to Mullen

Personally I think they need to gut the entire leadership at the top of the UAA and start over. Something is fishy in Denmark when a school with the resources of UF can't be competitive with the top half of the league, struggle against the rest, and have hired 3 straight Football coach failures with the 4th being close to the rocks. Somewhere there has to be accountability. Moe, Larry, and Curly couldn't have f'd this up any worse.

Says who? The rankings? Oooh goody gumdrops!

Where was Mertz in last year's portal rankings? Where do you think he would be in a postseason re-grade? Maybe we should have taken Rattler or Bazelak instead. Sure, the offense would have been worse, but that doesn't matter because we would have ranked way higher in the portal!

A&M had the #1 recruiting class in the nation last year. How's that working out for them? Oh, there's that pesky context again.......

I want to co-sign everything in this - I just went and looked at the '21 class, it's got Jason Marshall and absolutely nobody else (so basically nobody at all).

everyone here is rooting for BN - this guy is our guy, we sink or swim with him. nobody who is a real Gator is rooting against the Gators.

if BN goes into next year with no OC and a "GameChanger" coaching ST, he deserves to walk the plank.

if TG can't make the NCAA Tourney this year, I think SS has to go - that way, the slate can be cleaned and Pres Sasse can finally make his mark at the institution.

as far as all this handwringing about the "future of UF" - uhhh, Saban (the best to ever do it) just left because it is such a crapshoot. the future is completely up in the air every day now, it seems - values we once held dear are completely gone and not coming back. loyalty, commitment, hard work; put all that on a tombstone. the world of hurt is upon us.
