Of course, this is Dooley, so he is usually taken with a grain of salt. But, here, he has some interesting points. I missed this article during the holidays. Did Dooley miss anything? Florida Football: 12 things Pat Dooley hopes Gators got for Christmas
I sincerely believe we have to remain positive. For the sake of Gator Nation, we need Billy to succeed. Yes, he has had some bad luck, but Mullen did him NO favors. One of the things that needs to happen in 2024, GATOR NATION needs to curtail the negativity! One sports column I read stated that several schools used Gator forum comments to demonstrate that Billy was one year away from ... and resulted in some recruits flipping and caused several other recruits to at least think twice before December 20. So, my hope is that all of us will keep in mind that others, with not-so-good intentions, are scouring the forums for fodder. I, for one, hope I never provide anything that can be used against our program. I love the Gators too much! Go Gators!!!
As long as the are more losses than wins there will be material to negative recruit Florida. So that’s the first and best fix to that situation.
Yes sir, much like in any sales job, bottom line is QUOTAS - and coach Billy has whiffed on his "wins" quota 2 straight years. Perhaps, just perhaps, with Ohio State slipping a bit and with Saban's retirement UF can secure a few more top rated Florida kids and help turn this thing around. UGA can't sign em all.
I am hoping that a coach is committed to special teams in 2024, or we we might have to rename it. Also, 2024 needs to be the year an offensive coordinator is hired!
What needs to happen in 2024: Put the foot on the offensive accelerator and don't let up! I long for the hang half-a-hundred-on-em days! The defense CANNOT help us, if the offensive momentum suddenly dies!
7-8 wins and I need to see our lines start bullying dudes. Better in game management and adjustments at the half. That sets the stage for 2025.
And Dabo as well, Clemson has recruited the tar out of Florida. Even before Dabo, Tommy Bowden stole C.J. Spiller from under Urban's nose in '06!
Billy looking over his teams todo list: Dammit guys, I said "need special teams" ....not "special needs team".
A toxic environment is far worse than a bad W-L record. Givent the choice, I'd rather work in a place that is working towards getting better that has a good vibe and positive feeling over a place that is already great, but toxic. Ideally, you'd have a positive workplace and a winning culture, but that takes time.
When our recruiting class dropped from #3 to #16 on signing day (8th best in the SEC) and we're now ranked #67 in the portal transfer rankings, it doesn't bode well for the upcoming season. So another young team, a brutal schedule, still no special teams coordinator or offensive coordinator, a proven inability to make in-game adjustments and poor play calling. I'm not optimistic at all, but we'll see.
