Not to mention that most folks blow their loose yard debris to the curb where it is promptly drained to the bay/lake instead of being naturally broken down and incorporated into the soil to support future growth. But the yard does look so much better and the 100 pounds of granulated fertilizer doesn’t get intercepted on top of those pesky leaves.

I kid, the ambulance chasers and unambitious boys will see to it that no one other than homeowners and@professionals will be mowing lawns by then.

I disagree. I had to replace all of my power equipment over the last five years. I considered electric but every time they all felt cheap, and as someone here posted, I feared parts availability(I guess my fear was well founded). Last time I went in to the dealer for a spark plug and filter I was somewhat impressed with the Stihl line but they are very expensive, and still too much thin plastic, but they are getting there.

Any way, my neighbor can still borrow my Honda every time his batteries run out mowing his thick St. Augustine lawn. I did hear that Honda is getting out of the mower business. Too bad, they made great mowers.

 

Not sure why you would say that. Small gas engines are nasty. They account for 4-5% of our pollution and operating one for an hour emits the same amount of pollution a driving about 50 miles if you have a brand new more.

I say that because what you mow your lawn with or whether you recycle matters exactly zero if China and India don’t curb their emissions in a meaningful way. Or if human beings don’t stop eating meat. Or if any number of other things of much greater importance don’t happen. This sort of shit won’t make any sort of meaningful difference. It just makes people feel better about themselves.

What are you talking about? When I go into Home Depot, there are at least 4 models of battery powered lawn mowers and at least 2-3 others I can buy on line if I choose to.
It actually seems like the industry IS adapting. In fact, I have converted every power tool that I can to battery power with DeWalt as my go to, but not because some legislative body has told me to, but because at critical mass where tools share batteries and chargers it financially benefits ME. Not a political agenda.

Nice strawman... Cars re legal modes of transportation. Gas mowers are legally sold in the U.S.A.. To ban them should be unconstitutional overreach by any state.

 

Wait, before you said that government making a product illegal is not freedom, liberty, or democracy. Now, you are saying that only applies to products that the government has decided are legal?

 

Mowers have been legal for decades... what's your point? States should not have the power to dictate products that can be used in every state in our Republic. This is not a new product. What California is doing is using unsettles AGW to dictate laws at the state level in hopes of swaying the federal government to follow suit.

They did that for years with their demands on ICE car emissions... above and beyond the federal guidelines.

 

So 7 acres no good for battery lawn mowers. Good to know.

 

So you don’t like the tenth amendment to the constitution? The constitution is silent on lawn mowing so that would be reserved for the states.
