He saw that FCS lvl schedule and figured he could definitely get on the field vs all those 1/2* mighty acc WR's lmao
Alabama WR Malik Benson picked FSU today. Florida was involved. While he was the #1 JUco WR last year, he went on to average a sterling 1 catch per game in 2023. I am actually thankful he isn’t coming to UF. I’d prefer a proven D-1 talent like the Liberty receiver over another player / project who could barely see the field at another D-1 program in his first year. I do see it fitting that former JUCO player now leaves Bama for FSU, quite similar to a JUCO school.
fsu was probably willing to pay for his JUCO stats whereas Florida was gonna pay for his Bama stats. Benson, 6-1 and 195-pounds, played in 14 games for the Crimson Tide this past season where he totaled 13 catches for 162 yards and one touchdown.
I'm glad that they didn't get the guy that went to the NFL, but hopefully this guy isn't one of those overlooked lower level players that goes on to excel.
He probably looked at their acc schedule & said "man I play harder teams than that"! And their QB room is really bad, but their OL is actually their best unit so they'll have some time. Restrepo(sp) is their only threat at WR & he was their Pearsall. On defense our OL better have a plan for Bain, he's easily their best player hands down. Keep him in check and FL should easily move the ball as their D isn't that great overall, especially their DB's. The game being in the Swamp game #1 will overwhelm them imho. Especially if the S&C coach is as good as advertised.
