Condon is a very good player as a freshman. add-in he has only played basketball two years. He will surpass AD in offense and rebounding as he gains more muscle and weight. He already has been showing all Gator fans he is like DeClerq. If Handlogten had half his demeanor and warrior like play, he would be All American. Handlogten picks off the easy stuff being so tall but Condon plays better defense, ties people up and scores a little. in my reply earlier about him missing a shot, following it up and scoring, then running quickly when everybody on the court had a head start. He caught up and rebounded the first shot and even Jay Bilas commented that he has the mindset to that all players should have after scoring. One of the few compliments that were given on the network that worked the game. You know we have gotten a special player a lot of teams missed. The comparisons to DeClerq were made as I had a relative go to the same high school as DeClerq. I thoroughly was behind AD. I am seeing the same tenacity but he is still learning the game. Condon is a gift from Down Under!
Actually that reminds me that the 3 quick first half fouls on kugel were big. He was playing great in the first half, second half not so much.
Had we made just a few of those second half 3 point shots I think we win. The danger of passing to our bigs is it increases the possibility of turnovers which could lead to fast break buckets, most of our bigs are better at put back buckets off rebounds than posting, our guys could be fouled which means our bigs are bad at ft shooting, and even if uk collapsed their D and we hit the open man, our second half 3 point shooting was bad. We had open shots but just missed for whatever reason. But since we didn't throw to the post we will never know what might have happened good or bad. What killed us was poor ft shooting and Richards having a bad game.
Interesting point, but neither player fouls out per/40. Will Richard has 1.9 fouls & Aberdeen has 3.4.
What I saw, repeatedly I think, was shots careening off of the rim into the secondary range and no guards grabbing them at the foul line area. Seems like that happened a lot. Not disputing anything in your post...
The last 4 min of the game reminded me of the old Lombardi quote: Winning is a habit. Unfortunately so is losing. So many times winners find a way to get it done. That’s what Uk did. Meanwhile we were turning the ball over and missing free throws. Quite a contrast.
I did say that. And I mean it. Not all of them. But too many of them. Explain why they always lose the games that matter? " Oh....He just had a bad day shooting!! Not his fault!! Not his fault he went 0-8!! Look at his game against Picayune U!! Oh.. the team just shot free throws poorly! Everyone shoots free throws poorly, except our opponent!! Oh.. he should have taken it inside when he should have kicked it out! Oh, he just didn't go to the boards enough! Oh, he just drew unfair fouls! Oh, coach should have played slim when he should have played fat!" Blah, blah, blah. Waah, Waah. This board is the opposite of Swamp Gas. Over here, you guys are the worlds greatest apologists, and excuse makers. You come on man, unless you can explain the losing, the lack of effort in big games, the lack of will to win. Because they don't have the will to win. Period. I don't care how tall they are, or how much they weigh, I don't care what they did in high school or at the University of Charleston before they transferred, I don't care who their daddy is. They aren't winners, and our record supports that.
Oh, the "careening off the rim" problem. I really hate that, especially since it never happens to the other team!!
You realize that the coach TELLS the players to keep shooting right? Anyway, I'll check back with you in a couple of weeks if you're still around. Go Gators!
Miss game is a must. Lose and going to Tenn. on Sat. where there will be more fouls called on the gators. We will be 0-3 and tied at the bottom just like the women's team. Win, and we are back on course.
It's interesting, to me, but it took Billy a while to learn how to win the close games. in SEC play, he started off something like 2-15 in 1-score games (covering his first 5 seasons). People would complain about it all the time on here. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Not to be too particular, but we are playing the piggies on Saturday and visiting the toothless on Tuesday.
Are they going to refund the Arkansas tickets or will Tennessee be a home game? Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
