No, he didn’t. He just tied himself to Napier’s fate.

That was the case to begin with as he already has one failed football hire. Therefore delay the “failing” of the second one as long as possible via a 7-year contract and an insane buyout.

I think at the end of the day, you just want to see team improvement which will lead to more wins. Special teams and defense have been lacking——

Champ also had an 11 win season. With Champ, he had his issues, but that guy was so invested. Truly hard not to root for Champ.

He was not a bad guy, but was the Peter Principle personified. Unfortunately there were a lot of troubling signs even during the 11 win season that Muschamp was not going to be successful, ultimately.

The culture problem was firmly in place before CBN arrived. He’s trying to fix it, in the face of unprecedented changes in college football. You couldn’t write a script for a more difficult situation. The man is doing what he needs to do to turn things around, but you can’t do that in 2 short years.

Recruiting was nonexistent when he arrived. Relationships with state high schools and academies were nonexistent. The roster was depleted, especially on defense. Locker room chemistry was toxic. Updated facilities hadn’t come on line yet. The program had been irrelevant for over a decade and CBN was coach #4 in that time span. Even our fledgling NIL program was in disarray.

I challenge all the people here demanding Billy’s head if he doesn’t have all this fixed by the end of this next season, to tell me one reason we fans should be expecting and demanding any short-term results given the depth of the hole we were in 2 short years ago. And “we’re the University of Florida” isn’t a reason anymore. It’s been too long since we were worth talking about. Last time we won any kind of championship these graduating high school seniors were 4 years old.

A chip shot field goal was there for the win. Billy didn’t miss that kick

No, that’s true. He was only responsible for the poor coaching and game management that resulted in the 5-yard penalty right before the 44-yard “chip shot” that should have been a 39-yard “chip shot.” I guess one might also say he was responsible for the piss poor defense that kept Arkansas close in that game, which made it come down to a 44-yard “chip shot.”

I would like to point out, again, that Arkansas had two wins coming into that game. Two. Western Carolina and Kent State. After Napier gift-wrapped Arkansas’ third win, they only won one more: FIU. There’s no polishing this turd. The loss was inexcusable. Everyone else beat Arkansas and didn’t even necessarily have home field advantage.

The article literally talks about how great coaches avoid one-score games.

Billy didn’t miss the kick but his coaching put us in a situatuon where the game was gonna be decided by one score.

Avoiding that scenario altogether is the point of the article and all the stats presented.

Muschamp was hellbent on TOP and winning 13-10. Failure as a HC, now will work for Kirby forever.

Billy seems to like similar offenses. Hope he reads the article and a light comes on.

I really felt I was just addressing the mitigating circumstance you offered for Florida losing to 2-6 Arkansas at home. If that strikes you thrashing around in a circle, then okay.

True. Just hard not to like him. Dude was so invested. Loved his emotion. And yes, 11 win season could have easily been 7-8 wins but still responsible for one of our very best seasons in the last 12 years. 28-21 record not great but we’d probably take it right now. Absolutely loved his defenses!! Offense not so much.

Nobody demanding job but his portal strategy should have been much more aggressive from the start. Nobody is talking about championships. Heck, I like Billy but gotta at least be 500. We are talking about lowering bar and asking for 7-8 wins in first few years not championships.

I’d also say it’s the way we lose with things several times being mismanaged that concerns fans.

Not acceptable to equate building something with ok to lose first few years. Plenty of others have shown us that it’s easy to rebuild and still win seven or eight games or even more and there’s one commonality amongst those others… They hit the portal hard from day one.

With the resources we have, and the fertile recruiting grounds and so many other things it’s really hard to not win seven or eight games a year at the University of Florida.

39 not a chip shot. Maybe 30 and under but no way is 39 a chippy.

Throwing out the cream puffs guaranteed wins in our schedule what is Billy’s record versus the SEC/Utah/FSU quality teams? Hint it’s bad…real bad. You can say rebuild but something has to improve that you can your hat on..after 20 plus games what is it?
