It would send a poor message if they did grant him a sixth year. "Hey, can I stay in school so I can make NIL bank vice giving my professional career a go?". The covid year made it a wash anyway. Why wait until now to apply for a waiver? (Its obvious why).

It is really bad for the younger players when it really should be their time.

He didn’t really get an extra covid year because he redshirted 2020. If he had redshirted in 2019 instead of playing in that last game where he took two snaps, he’d actually have one more year of eligibility because they would have given him that 2020 year back. Weird how it played out, but he knew the rules when he chose to burn his redshirt his freshman year at bama. When he made that decision, the covid year wasn’t a thing he could have planned on.

Hmm. Well, he would have known about the covid year since the decision came down in Aug 2020 before the season. NCAA approves blanket waiver for 2020 fall sports athletes to retain year of eligibility

I didn't think anyone really redshirted in 2020. Hard for me to buy him playing in 4 of the 5 total games UM played that year as being a redshirt. It was like the season didn't exist as far as eligibility goes, i.e. he entered into 2020 having 3 years eligibility remaining and exited with the same amount. Now, if 2019 was redshirt year, than he'd have 4 years going into 2021 which is what he is contesting. To be honest, I get flummoxed with the effects of the covid year across so many classes.

I don't know how it will be ruled. I guess if the NCAA wants to be nice they grant it, but seems to me the redshirt rule is pretty straightforward. I don't think Bama misled him.

I’m talking about ‘19, which is the year he’s trying to get back. He went in after Tua was injured and took two snaps in a fifth game, which burned his shirt. He wouldn’t have known about the covid year when he chose to burn it because covid wasn’t a thing yet.

He redshirted in ‘20. The years of play that are counted against him are ‘19, ‘21, ‘22, and ‘23.

If he would have actually redshirted in ‘19, and played in ‘20, ‘21, ‘22, and ‘23, he would still have a year of eligibility left, because ‘20 was given back to everyone that played that year. If he had played in every game in ‘20 instead of redshirting and only playing in four, he’d still be in the same spot eligibility wise. The year that’s putting him in a bind is ‘19.

Rules? C'mon...we know there aren't really any rules. They make it up as they go.

If there weren’t any rules, he wouldn’t need a waiver to circumvent them. I don’t disagree with the implication that the rules aren’t enforced as they should be.

    The hits keep coming.

    Good pickup???

Little played in eight games for Alabama in 2023 where he made two tackles. He played in three games as a true freshman in 2022 for the Crimson Tide. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

seems like 5 star and high 4 star recruits that transfer from Bama and Georgia without being good players/solid starters at those schools don’t do a ton post transfer. I thought Little did more than make two tackles last year in year 2 at Bama (first year really playing). If you can’t get on the field early at Bama and start making contributions, you get passed over. He may turn out to be a good player with more opportunities at FSU. But…recent transfers in same boat show why they didn’t get more playing time at Bama and Georgia.

That would be surprising with Jerry Jones being an alumni.

Was interesting that Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson were roommates on the Arkansas football team many years back.
