Cats were 20-28; Gators 18-29 but I’d bet the margin is “worse” if we calculated the number of front-end 1&1 misses we had.
Whether it was game plan or not… This is the part I didn’t like. I think we really conceded our interior size and strength. I think we made ourselves much easier to defend. Kentucky made the adjustments in the second half… And we saw the result.
We got great looks most of the night, we just didn’t hit enough and then obviously free throw shooting. If we are lucky enough to make the tournament I do not love the idea of one of our guys at the line in a pressure situation in March.
Because of one game you're going to remove a starter and one of our most reliable players/best shooters? Per 40........pts.....rbd.....fg%.....3pt%.....ast.....stl.....blk.....to Richard.......15.8....5.2......43.9.....38.8.......1.8.....1.0.....0.6.....2.0 Aberdeen....12.6....3.9......39.5.....21.4.......4.2.....1.2.....0.3.....1.5 Other than pts, rebounds, shooting, and blocks, I guess Aberdeen is better than Richard.
That defense effort looked the same as the first game and everything in between. I thought it might get improved before SEC play but I guess not.
Samuel really struggled to get his offense going, got outplayed big time by Mitchell in terms of rebounding, and his free throws were abysmal as usual. I don't understand how you get to your final year of college and not change that horrible free throw shooting form at some point.
The areas of concern are still there in game #14 or so.... Can't put lipstick on a pig and hid what it is. As discussed Ad nauseam.... FT.... (Had a coach who once told the team, miss your free throws and it lifts that teams spirit... So don't make them feel good about hacking you) When it hits the fan who wants the ball?? Clayton Jr. Is solid and Pullin could be that... Samuel should be that imho!! Give me the damn ball and let's win this!! Kugel??? Something is just not right with his mentality at the moment. (I know captain obvious) Condon looked like a freshman today. Haugh as well. Samuel has to show up every friggin night!! To much talent and given skill. (Someone Rudy the kid... If you had half the heart of Rutiger you'd be an All American, instead you just got dropped to second team.) I'm just not going to blame TG, these young men need to step up!! They were put into position to win, friggin win gent's. Go Gators!!
Yea, we should have won ny double digits if you hit just 4 more FTs AND Richard hits usual 3 threes. Hell, even 2 more threes.
That’s like saying if we didn’t throw the ball out of bounds on our own a few times it wouldn’t have been close for Kentucky. It’s part of the game. Those counted same as our empty possessions that had nothing to do with Kentucky’s defense.
we mostly made it a game of our guards versus theirs. Sure, ours are good… but our size and physicality shoudlve been an advantage. Our backcourt had 50 shots… Meanwhile…condon/samuel/Handlogten combined for 16 total attempts, several of which were put backs. We had very few post touches. We took thirty 3s. Whether by plan or not… that’s not how I saw the game unfolding, and I don’t think it played to our advantage.
This team has 0 alpha males on it. I don’t see anyone leading the team, and Kugel can’t even look a coach in his eyes when he’s being talked to. This team has talent, but KY players wanted this game more.
Yeah it’s actually amazing that we were in the game despite those two facts. Fortunately, we’re not a team that has to rely and just one guy. It seems to be a different guy every night.
