23 fouls to their 16 didn't help either. At the 13-minute mark the refs decided to slow the game down and call everything, from that moment on the writing was on the wall. You play differently when trying not to foul. Once again it completely took us out of our game. I did an analysis a couple years ago where I looked at foul discrepancy vs UK...there was literally 2-3 games in the last 15-20 years where we had the advantage. Worse at Rupp but even at home we were at a disadvantage. It's maddening, but not surprising.
Still, taking the #6 team to the wire is nothing to sneeze at. Team played with heart and a few breaks here and there...
Should have won this game. Free throw misses. Turnovers and poor shot selection down the stretch. Gave up several good leads. Kugel who is supposed to be an NBA prospect disappears down the stretch? Frustrating.
Clayton - 23 points (7-of-16 FG, 3-of-10 3pt, 6-of- FT, 4 Reb, 1 Stl, 3 Asst, 0 TO) Z Pullin - 23 points (9-of-15 FG, 2-of-4 3pt, 3-of-4 FT, 2 Stl, 3 Reb, 3 Asst, 1 TO) R Kugel - 15 points (5-of-10 FG, 2-of-4 3pt, 3-of-6 FT, 4 Rebs, 2 Stl, 0 Asst, 2 TO) Condon - 10 points (3-of-6 FG, 1-of-2 3pt, 3-of-4 FT, 4 Reb, 2 Asst, 1 TO)
This should've been our game to win. We need to shoot better FT's and take care of the ball. We outrebounded them, had more assists and got more steals.
The free throw shooting and inability of certain players to value the basketball will cost this team so many SEC games. It’s going to be hard to get to 10-8 in league because the weaknesses this team had day 1 have not been corrected.
We are right there, fellas. We need an alpha. Not sure who that is at this point. Everybody looking around for someone else to step up
