Congrats to him on graduation and earning a starting OG job for the Gators during his time here. Wish him well!
we will be fine. There’s some good young kids that have developed quite a bit or are developing and our portal work has been pretty impressive to this point and not done.
How so? Have you been keeping up with the additions to the OL and how the new players (7 of them so far) change the OLs dynamic?
Listen, lets call it what it is….he was serviceable AT BEST. He reached his ceiling as a short guard in the SEC. Harris can’t/won’t be any worse. only Mullen recruits left that get PT are: Barber Sapp Boone Marshall Burke Zip if I woke up tomorrow and all of them hit the portal, I wouldn’t bat an eye
I’ve thrown zero shade at CBN. That wasn’t the intent. It hurts because you take a seasoned OL that’s been in the system out of the program. Sure, there’s better OL in the country. But Leornard has been a consistent contributor and done it the right way. This is not “addition by subtraction.” He’d be nice to have.
I didn't mention or mean to refer to CBN here. I'm just talking about the transition going on with the OL. I don't know any knowledgeable Gator that doesn't like Leonard. He's a great Gator and a solid OG. Would have loved to have him back. However, he was a returning starter and 5th year player that wasn't guaranteed playing time next year. CBN wants to give the young OGs the chance to play and some of the OTs now look to be getting time at OG. CBN also likes big O-linemen; Leonard just isn't that type of player. His departure isn't a surprise.
Does anyone remember how Leonard graded out? Hudson was our highest rated OLineman. I don't recall Ritchie bring near the top of the ladder but from the looks of the grading of the portal transfers they look pretty good in comparison to all of our guys except Hudson and I don't hear anybody mentioning Hudson. Not sure if that because he only had one year of eligibility or they are just discounting any contribution from him.
Hudson had 4 years of starting under his belt, so he had way more experience than anyone we started. I hope Crenshaw will have good PFF numbers here too as he has tons of experience. None of our OL really had great PFF numbers.
With PFF and ESPN grades, he was solid. Slaughter was the Gators top rated OL. Hudson was solid, too. He probably should have played more. He graduated out, so there's not much talk about him. Talking mostly about spring and next season.
