It's interesting to read what he told Blake Alderman: "I like that they have a lot of 0-line coaches," Manuel said of why Florida was the pick. "They have a lot of people who work in the o-line room. They have the two o-line coaches, there is a strength coach just for the o-line specific. They have a lot of video guys to make sure they take tape of you at practice to help you look back. It just felt like I have a lot of resources there that will be valuable. I feel like my development will be better and faster with all the things accessible to me."
Love this pick up and as I said, in the last couple days, you just can’t teach that size. Also love what @candymanfromgc said about the possibility of Barber moving inside. Has some experience there and would be an absolute monster on the inside. even if this young man is not starting for us, it gives us much-needed depth that tackle. When I watch his film, I love how fluid he looks and his size really seems to move very well. Again, I’ll go back to his 6‘,9“ frame and say that he easily could have 20 more pounds on this frame which is one of the reasons I think he looks so fluid in his movements as I’m not saying, he needs to add as I think his not having that weight makes it so he moves very well. I say we get at least one if not two more in the next two days and don’t be surprised if one of them is not the Colorado quarterback. Do not underscore the importance of picking up that young man as number one we do not have enough quarterbacks on scholarship, number two the kid can play and played at a very high level against excellent competition in high school And three, he’s a good young man. And I didn’t even mention he has four years left.
From the videos, he looks agile and quicker than any other lineman we have on offense. His long arms make it extremely difficult to get around him. I like this transfer. Welcome Devon to the Gator Nation!
I think a great shot at he and Weisman. I think we still pick up at least 3 to 4 guys after that. We are also in it for a four-star athlete/edge kid out of West Palm Beach also and don’t forget Humes
After seeing his YouTube highlights, I believe we can use him, and even as a starter at OT over Barber, Waites and George. I hope our nutrition and S&C people are all over him to fall camp.
I've seen a few posts about Barber at OG or lumping him in with Waites and George. Barber is an SEC quaity OT when healthy. Maybe even an All SEC type as a RT. He's also a much better OT than Waites and George.
