I just wanted to point out, for the “uniforms don’t matter… “Or the, “our colors are orange and blue “crowd… That thinks that uniform combinations matter very little… Every single publicity photo for every single recruit had the player in either a black gator jersey or an orange one or some sort of alternate uniform… Occasionally you see some blue jerseys, but the majority are black jerseys. There is a reason that the marketing department and the player decide to go with that uniform combo repeatedly, over the traditional blue jersey. And you can save your “but Alabama doesn’t change uniforms “comments… Florida is not Alabama. Florida is a team of the modern era and should have the swag of a modern era football team. The kids enjoy it, it looks good, it gets much needed attention and builds our brand… And Florida needs all the cool points It can get right now. Make Florida cool again. when you look good you feel good when you feel good, you play good. Billy needs to take a lesson from his marketing department and switch it up more often
What gets me the most are the "who cares what we look like, as long as we win" comments. "Worry less about the uniforms and more about the product on the field!" Like the two are mutually exclusive, LOL. Yeah, I'm reallllll sure Billy and the staff are blowing off recruiting and film study so they can brainstorm about the uniform combinations All I ask is that they wear the orange pants more often, and go back to the old style number font. Oh, and wear the 60s throwbacks once a year.
I cannot do anything about the marketing dept choices - but I will loudly complain about them going away from our traditional colors
They will be the greatest generation. Smarter, more well rounded, sensitive, enlightened…. Cleaning up boomer messes for the next 40 years
They're too small a generation to have much affect at all dude. If anything, they'll be the ones who lead us into demographic collapse. Nice cartoonish narrative though. Good for a chuckle.
We have to stay modern, as noted we have no real traditions before Spurrier, at least as far as non-senior citizens go. Why the heck would recruits now, born after 2002, care about the 1960's throwback uniforms? That appease old poeple, not the young recruits looking at pizzazz. Its just the fact of life now with recruits, get used to it. Old school uniforms appeal to boosters maybe, but a winning record by those young kids looking for cool uniforms will pull more money out of booster's wallets than a throwback uniform during a loosing season. REALITY.
100% wrong. The players LOVED the throwbacks the few times we have worn them. Throwbacks are cool no matter how old you are. Haven't you seen all the recruits posing in the throwback Gators gear for their photoshoots? The vintage look is as popular as ever.
No, I am not a man child following kids on Twitter. However all the excitement I hear about stems around the black uniforms, or the possibility of them over the years. No one is ever excited about "week 5 they are going to wear throwbacks!!!" Yet all year long people talked about black uniforms... For any posts showing throwbacks there seem to be a bunch posted here showing them in black uniforms.
I like the white, orange and blue jerseys. The alternate jerseys need to be throw back jerseys. Add the blue helmets back and we’re set.
I'm not on Twitter. The posts of recruits are shared regularly in the recruiting forum on here. Your anecdotal evidence is meaningless. Nobody is "excited" about the throwbacks because they haven't existed lately. We haven't worn them at all the last few years.
At home, I'd wear white over white on hot days, blue over white on other days and the Spurrier throwbacks on homecoming.
