Yeah I watched it when it came out, it was sort of a "watercooler show" that people talked about and theorized about, I remember discussing it with friends. Then no one talked about it ever again even though it went on for another couple of seasons.

I got a good trivia game -- Brie Larson or Alison Brie. Name one of their movies/shows and you gotta say if it was Brie Larson or Alison Brie in it.

That said, I wasn't that crazy about Lessons in Chemistry.

Brie Larson - Kong Skull Island and the Marvels. LOVED Lessons in chemistry

Brie Larson - Spin Me Around (think that is what I was called)

I interpreted the ending with the girl as a "find your own happiness" scenario.

Bree was great long ago in ShortTerm 12. Remember Alison from Mad Men as Pete's wife (I think)

What was the random loud noise? Why did the kids teeth fall out? Why were the deer weird? Why did a drone drop leaflets in a totally rural area? I had a million questions that never were even put in context much less answered.

The noises were similar to the Havana syndrome as explained by Kevin Bacon. The leaflets were dropped all over apparently with them all claiming someone else taking responsibility to create mass confusion (but yeah the crop duster dropping those in the middle of nowhere was clearly stupid). Not sure if they explained the teeth falling out or the deer. That was just to create suspense/confusion. Pretty stupid movie.

It really lost me when Julia Roberts gave that stupid monologue about people screwing each other over. Seemed clear she took the role just for that scene and it seemed so contrived.

Big ratings, that may justify the casting costs

They have their own inscrutable business model, only a bit less opaque now due to the new deal after the strike

2023 turned out to be a pretty good year for movies. Best I've seen are The Holdovers and Past Lives. Both were excellent. Poor Things was pretty good. Did not care for Barbie. Still need to see Oppenheimer and a few others. Gonna try to see most of the best picture nominees this year for a change.

A year that had a new Scorsese, Mann and Scott. A real year for Movie Bros.

Oppenheimer is classic Nolan pizazz and spectacle, leaves you feeling like you have seen an All-Timer at first viewing.

Perhaps this one holds up better upon further viewing since it isn’t Nolan creating the “logic.”

Although even the first time around the “comeuppance” was a little heavy-handed. A little too clever by half, as the saying goes, from about five different directions.

But I admit I am a sucker for the Nolansanity. I still show my astronomy students Interstellar because of the decent effort at time dilation, the accurate prediction of a black hole, and the (likely inadvertent) anthropomorphic AI.

He is mos def a showman.

I can’t take any best list seriously without Godzilla minus one. :) I really did liked it.

That was a GREAT movie. The year of prestige Godzilla content, as it has been called

I enjoyed the movie until the end then started giving it some thought and think many scenes didn’t make sense or were not thought out. The ending sucked.

The only thing I learned was how to build a Mac Daddy cool security shelter. I started digging one in my back yard last week until my owners association told me it violated our rules. Sigh

That was a serious shelter. Supposedly the Uber wealthy all have them, mostly overseas
