Petro is being traded in multiple currencies independent of Russia and Ukraine. You are way off base here
KSA and China have been working on using the Yuan as far back as 2019

US trying to be everywhere at once. Can’t even win one proxy war at a time. All the more reason to pull up stakes, bring all our boys and girls and equipment home and gird ourselves against the mighty invasion which will never happen …

You might be correct that the mode of currency exchange for petroleum is an aspect of this war, but that is a consequence, not a proximate cause as you seem to be suggesting. Russia has lots of reasons for wanting dominion over Ukraine, but one way or another it all comes down to grabbing power because they think they can.

I have never paid much attention to those reports, I file them in the NATO / Western press propoganda file.
There is a shooting war and then there is the press, on both sides, playing "win the hearts and minds".

The conflict is in stalemate, I recall many references in the summer about Ukraine on the verge of a (major) breakthrough
during the offensive. That clearly never developed.

If anything the conflict is bogged down with the front lines changing very little. Russia has made minor pushes recently but
the territory gained resembles a WW! battlefield and every structure blown to bits.

It was clear from the very beggining Ukraine had a major uphill battle. Frankly it's shocking that Ukraine has extended this conflict
to almost 2 years and seems to make every Russian effort at advancement costly in men and material.

Putin is crowing right now because of the lack of US and to some extent, NATO aid. And it is almost certain Russia will win without that aid.
I am hopeful the US and Nato comes through and punishes Russia for yet another year, for their "totalitarian tyranny" and land grab Imperialism.

You are getting your headlines confused.

War = about land, people, resources

BRIC = about four countries who would like to find a non-U.S. currency for international trade.

There is nothing about the war that would help Russia develop a new currency for trading petroleum. If Russia destroyed the U.S., then yes, they would have to use a new currency to buy and sell oil. Did you think the U.S. Federal Bank used for international transactions was in Kiev? Or Bahkmut?

Looks like Russia has given up trying to break the will of Ukraine's people by destroying the energy infrastructure, and they have switched to attacking Ukraine's defense industries. Only took them 22 months to figure that out. (And you thought the barbarians were stupid . . . )

New definition of irony: Ukraine blows up the latest and greatest Russian air defense system, using a missile (which is what the air defense system was designed to shoot down). It only cost Russia $250 million. Perhaps they should have spent $260 million on it.

Ukraine struck a new $250 million Russian artillery radar system right after the military touted its arrival

Maybe the Brits don't think a Russian invasion of the U.K. is imminent, and they will have time to rebuild their stocks. Besides, I am sure they have some weapons for naval and air warfare, should they be needed. They haven't sent their last bullet to Ukraine. Try not to be so gullible.

    Now they tells us …

Almost two years have passed. Ukraine has been ravaged. Territory has been lost. Cities have been bombed. Millions of people have been displaced. Many Ukrainians have fled abroad.

The West’s highly touted Wunderwaffe failed to deliver victory. Ukraine’s military has suffered staggering though officially unacknowledged losses. As the flow of volunteers ebbed, Kiev revived the ancient British practice of impressment, snatching young and old men alike off the streets for military service.

Russia's command post in Crimea gets hit by Ukrainian missiles. A Russian military facility may also have been hit.

Russia is preparing to commit more war crimes, forcing Ukrainian teenagers in occupied areas to sign up for the military and be used as bait on the front lines to identify Ukrainian positions.

National Resistance Center: Russian occupation authorities to force Ukrainian teenagers into military registration

Hopefully, some of them can successfully surrender, and get some training and join Ukraine's army at age 18. They will likely live longer if they join the good guys.

An article about the donation of F-16's to Ukraine. They won't win the war for Ukraine, but they could make a difference. The first ones to be donated are nearly worn-out planes from European countries that aren't expected to last more than two years. The U.S. has hundreds that it could donate.

Ukraine’s ‘new’ second-hand F-16 fighters will soon need replacing. Here are the options

Russian army has been reduced to playing with dolls. They are apparently putting mannequins on infantry fighting vehicles to pretend they are making an assault with more soldiers than they actually have, and mislead Ukraine about the direction of their attacks. They are also trying out ISIS tactics of cruising on motorcycles to try to get closer to Ukrainian positions.

An explanation of why it is so easy for Ukraine to intercept Russia's pathetic Kinzhal missiles. Apparently, the missiles slow down to Mach 1.9 as they approach the target, and that is more than slow enough for the Patriot missiles to shoot them down. Putin claimed in 2018 that his newest missile was unstoppable, but a 1980's air defense system proved him wrong.

Putin’s hypersonic bluster has been exposed by Ukraine’s American Patriots

Nah. I'll hold my tongue. The picture ain't pretty (I'll just say it reminds me of a bull fight I saw in Spain as a youngster...), and I'm hoping more than you, that I'm dead ass wrong.

...but damn, that cape and those harpoons...and the drool, and the blood, and the exhaustion, and the sword... so seem do seem disturbingly familiar...

(preemptive side note: no, Russia is not the matador).
