It was bama’s mediocrity following the Stalling years that led them to redouble their efforts of”support” when they hired NS. The rest as they say is history, they have a system in place that has been adaptable in the NIL era to help maintain their pipeline albeit at a much higher amount of $
I've been a bit of a broken record about this. Totally agree. They couldn't stand seeing lsu, Florida, Tennessee and others win titles and be nationally relevant while their last title was in 1992. Saban was the perfect vehicle to attack every possible advantage abive board or not. I never would have thought he would stay as long as he has though.
Uhh, I don't think the competition Gumbs was going against compares at all with what PU had to go against.
For some reason that link didn't work for me. Lol... the caps were missing? Here's one that works for me. That young QB is shifty and sneaky fast... I like. https://247sports.com/Player/Kasen-Weisman-46113179/
Yeah agreed. It was Gumby’s 1st year play DE in 2023. He played TE his 1st two years. We shall see. New DL coach likes him and he knows what he wants.
Yeah, visiting Saturday. He Spoke to Billy earlier. Nice add to qb room. Good kid and good athlete that played very good high school competition.
He at least played against D1 competition (G5) unlike Jared Verse who played at Albany and Gumbs played the same competition as Braden Fiske in the MAC conference, both those guys did very well when they moved up and played P5 competition So I wouldn't count him out just yet.
Seems Quincy Ivory is already a project at DE/rush edge. Not sure we need another guy with potential upside….need more immediate dudes.
1. That is extreme insulting to the G5 and FCS. 2. While I agree in general we don’t know yet that the kid is necessarily a project. I have to assume the DL coach has seen him and knows what he brings to the table. We do have immediate dudes coming. McCray will be impossible to keep off the field. Howell will also be an immediate help.
I would agree on Howell but…he is taking more visits and not committed to UF so I don’t count him. mCCray may end up awesome but true freshman rush edges that make huge contributions? I can’t think of any in recent gator history. In doing some research I didn’t see a single true freshman have a great year with sacks going back as far as Jack Youngblood. Alex Brown had 2 as a redshirt freshman. Kevin Carter 0 as a freshman. None of the great UF sack guys did much of anything as a true freshman.MCCray will hopefully dominate but he’d be a unicorn if he does. He will likely contribute for sure
Stings a bit. It’s tough on the Oline when there is very little continuity. George and Waites are better suited inside so may be a good thing.
