Am I the only one that feels that this thread went over their head? Are you saying we didn't play defense? Didn't score enough points? What?

I don't see why this isn't somewhat interesting. We haven't been a good 3rd quarter team for 2 years and the numbers are reflecting it. Can't say what the issues are but it is concerning.

My initial thought was we are not making major (any) adjustments on O at halftime. Few points scored in 3rd by us or them seems to indicate our adjustments on D are moderate (they don’t score much, so we must be adjusting our game plan) but on O we don’t either (no adjustments or they are out scheming us). Need OC

Strength and Conditioning. We were the more fatigued team in 2nd half.

I suppose that there will be many posters who know. Wish I did.
Maybe I would be making mega-bucks.

Correct! Basic physiology and training as well as maturation. (or the lack of those things!)

We are young and learning. That makes us prey for some of our mature opponents.

The answer? Keep working hard and learning.

As the old joke goes, how do you get to Carnegie Hall?

    Practice, practice, practice!

Not the way to put your stamp on a game. It should be a scripted possession counter to the first half tendencies.

While I'll agree we can do and should do far better, let's do a little math.
If we simply averaged 8 points for the 3rd quarter against p5 opponents, that equates to 32 points/ game.
32/points per game should be enough to win most games. (With a decent defense- cough cough.)

So if we can simply improve our 5.2 average to 8+, that should be enough for us to be a strong offense again.
To me this tells the story of the whole year.
Our offense could be better, but it wasn't the problem.

    DEFENSE was the problem.
Special teams was also a problem.

Final note- it occurs to me if special teams gets fixed, that should yield this 3+ point 3rd quarter improvement.

How does averaging eight points for the third quarter equal 32 points per game? Wouldn’t you have to average eight points every quarter?

Umm yes. 8 points per quarter gets you 32 per game which should win most of the time.

A man starts out from point A and gets to point B in 15 minutes. What was his average velocity?

    I can see that conclusion.
However there is one other conclusion as well.
The Gators are not 2 deep in enough in talent/experience in positions (especially on the O and D linemen).
A guy goes down to injury or is gassed, the back up should be ready to step up and fill that spot.
I can see that a Freshman at the beginning of the season not being ready. However, in the last three or four weeks of the season, there should be some growth.
