They probably use Bayesian statistics in which the original position is based on beliefs (e.g. that this year's team will be as good as last year's) & this belief is updated with new data (how well the team is doing this year) as it rolls in.
We are 1-2 in Quad 1 wins so far, with 9 more games remaining. We are 8-1 in Quads 2 through 4, with 10 more games remaining. Florida Gators Nitty Gritty at Bracketologists
This was very helpful. Great info. Thanks Bazza “Wes Chandler was Percy Harvin before Percy Harvin was born.”
They've dropped in the NET rankings now because some of the teams they beat have lost some games. NET rankings fluctuate day to day and even Quad level wins and losses change depending on how our opponents are doing.

Virginia and Pitt both got smoked yesterday. Wake is playing well, which is what I expected with Appleby moving on. Addition by subtraction.
I'd guess we must beat all the Q3-Q4 teams (13-0) & probably go 4-8 in remaining Q1-Q2 (7-11) to have a chance. Florida Gators NET Team Sheet at Bracketologists
For the Quinnipiac game basic net efficiency (not adj that the committee uses) was 31.1, which was our 2nd highest. That helped our Net move up to 46.
FWIW, Wake Forest is now 9-3, #64 in NET and #43 in kenpom. Our loss to them is rated as a Quad 1 loss.
I got a “3” on my first grad school statistics test at UF. The girl next to me was crying because she got a 66. Good times!
For now, yes. That's the weird thing about the Quad system. As the season goes along, what once was shown as a Quad 1 game can later become Quad 2 and vice versa. As of 1/1/14, the Gators were ranked #48 in the NET rankings, 1-2 in Quad 1 games, 2-1 in Quad 2, 1-0 in Quad 3 and 6-0 in Quad 4. Hopefully some of the teams Florida beat will win some games that moves some of those games up a Quad. In reality, though, we just need to do our part and win a bunch of SEC games and the NET rankings will take care of themselves. Alabama is #5 in NET, Tennessee #7, Auburn #13, Kentucky #23, Texas A&M #24, Mississippi St. #35, South Carolina #45. We have plenty of chances to move up a lot by winning. I had an engineering class where some kid got a -6 on a test, he missed all of the questions and use the wrong type of paper for the negative grade
Bracketologists still unkind to the Gators. Being called a bubble team with one of the last four byes.
