What a play by the DB out timing and out jumping the WR to swat that ball away. Huskies win!

I am rooting for the underdogs.

Good coaching makes all the difference.

The play was there. Needed to get it to the receiver before he went into the end zone.

    Hell of a game.

Props and respect to BOTH programs!

    Final score...........37-31 Huskies!

Watched the last 2:30. Holy Cow. It's truly a wonderful day when both Alabama and Texas lose a game. What a great way to start 2024.

I was trying to remember the last time Washington won the national title and I was thinking '91. I knew they got one very early in SOS's tenure at UF. I looked it up and was right, but they split the title winning the Coaches poll and Miami winning the AP poll.

Guess who Washington beat in the Rose Bowl that year to get to 12-0 and claim the Coaches title? Michigan by a score of 34-14.

With about 2:30 left, UW had 3rd and goal at the 8, up by 6. I'm not a fan of conservative play calling, but I run the ball here and make Texas burn another TO. Then kick, and go up by 9. Had UW done this, they could've victory formation out the game after recovering the onside kick. Instead, they need to run 3 plays and punt. And with the injury TO, it left Texas time for a comeback.

In the end, doesn't matter. But if you have a gimme FG to go up by 2 scores late, you want to force the other team to use as many TOs as possible. This way, recover the kick and it's victory formation.

Credit also to UW D coordinator for adjusting and rushing the passer rather than just sit back and losing.

Pass option was ok given their personnel but once he had nothing I'd have liked to see him be coached to just stay in bounds with the ball and take a knee. Was a short field goal regardless if they lost a yard or two. Agree with not going conservative but as you explained, there was a lot to gain by keeping the clock running and forcing a timeout.
