What about voting for a publicly elected official who has blatantly and publicly abridged free speech using the power of his position in government?

You made the point that we cannot vote for a candidate who is perfect relative to free speech because none of them ARE perfect in that regard. But what about a candidate who took a perfectly awful and un-American stance on free speech? You are trying to equate a candidate who, while not perfect, respects free speech, and who definitely DID NOT punish an entity using his governmental powers, with one who clearly DID punish an entity using his governmental powers, which makes your point ridiculous!

So again, how can you support a person who has no respect for free speech and the constitutional rights of Americans, who has literally used his governmental powers to punish Disney for disagreeing with him?

Bull crap. The government punished him for exercising 1A. Both the right to speech and the right to freely exercise his religious faith all while trying to control the content of his work and art.

You just don't like where his choices land, but they are protected choices and the government tried to punish him for it.

 

Bullcrap. The government punished him for refusing to serve a gay couple. He didn't even ask what design they wanted. He flatly told them that he wasn't going to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple.

I'd actually agree that the First Amendment protects his right to not be compelled to bake a cake that says, "I love gay marriage" or a cake with two men having sex or something of that nature. But that's also not what the law was designed to target. It was designed to target refusals to serve (just like the Civil Rights Act of 1964). It's a law that is facially constitutional that can be enforced in certain circumstances in an unconstitutional manner.

 

You must be smarter than I am because I have no idea what is the “core platform” of the Republican Party outside of tax cuts for the rich, demonizing minorities, and anti abortion. If any of that seems attractive without the republican tolerance of racism then I’m confounded.
