A bunch of rumors/reports floating around out there now that this might be Nicks last ride. I’m not going to attach a bunch of links but they’re not hard to find. He can’t do this forever and would turn 73 during next season. Apparently the Belichick situation in New England got his attention, and he doesn’t want to end up like that or anything similar to Bobby. What better way to ride off into the sunset than winning your 8th national championship.

If true, who would be next at Alabama? I’m sure Nick would probably have a lot of input. No one on the current staff will get the job. Then you start looking at former assistants. Kiffin might be positioned in the right place at the right time. With the gump all-in factory model he could kill it there, imho. Would Dabo want the job? Would Bama want him, now? Would they go after a young guy like Dan Lanning? If/when the job opens, it will be fascinating to see what transpires.

I wouldn't want to be the first coach following Saban. All eyes would be staring 24/7.

I do not think so but I am not privy to his plans.

If he wins it all then maybe.

He would probably like to go out on top.

    Saban is in excellent shape.

    We will see!

No idea. But if Bama wins it all, then the chances certainly go up. So I’m all for it.

I do not think so but if he wins he might retire.

I believe that he is in great shape so it is hard to say what he would do.

I wonder if Bama message boards are at least 200 pages in to a Chip Kelly for coach thread and tracking miscellaneous light aircraft call letters around the country.

in the end maybe they will have to settle for a diamond in the rough coach from Conference USA.

Dabo. He is their prodigal son. He's their Steve Spurrier minis the Heisman. He was born in Birmingham, raised in Birmingham, was a walk on WR for Gene Stallings at Bama, won a title in '92 With Bama, forst coaching experience was there at Bama. He is tied with kirby smart as the coach with the 2nd most NC's among active HC's, behind only Saban and both came by beating Bama and Saban, the greatest coach in cfb history. It actually makes too much sense.

Saban can’t be happy with the current state of college football. It has to be hard on a coach who albeit has adapted but his teams core strengths has been dedication and discipline.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he walks away after the playoffs: especially if Bama wins.

Like the above poster said. I wouldn’t want to be the next guy in line to take over for a legend, especially the coach who might be the greatest of all time.

I doubt Lane takes the job… I think Ole Miss is preseason top 10 next year and definitely is bringing in a good class.

I kinda doubt he'd be offered the job, but it wouldn't be surprising if he had a good year with some rentals and used that to get himself a better job.

Lane would crumble in that environment the first time things get difficult. He doesn’t handle it well.

Ole Miss is a perfect fit for him. Not a lot of pressure and he pretty much has full control over everything.

It's not necessarily that hard if you're not a clown. Jimbo Fisher followed Bobby Bowden and won a national championship.
