Give me the Scourton, Simpkins, and one (or both) of ratcliffe/Voisin and I am happy on D. I would like a 1-2 year eligibility player at LB but there are none worth taking right now and I def don’t wanna take time from Graham/Chiles. Just wanna help Shemar. Kind the same scenario at safety too. A one year player would be great but ratcliffe has three years and I really like his game.

Not sure why Mazz would leave.

Ill try this again. I confused the portal and draft declaration dates on my first try. I have the correct info now.

The portal deadline is Jan 3rd. The player has to enroll for the fall semester to be part of the off-season, so the deadline can't be too far into Jan.

The deadline to declare for the draft is Jan 15th. The recruiting dead period starts Jan 18th, meaning we'll know the complete winter S&C and spring roster on Jan 18th.

Portal should be used IMO to meet specific needs. UF not Looking for TEs, took a WR already. May take a QB for depth but hard to findu such a guy. Happy with RB room. In defensive side they will take the beste they can find within reason. I think they are done at DT.

Interesting about only taking 1 portal DT. They lost 2, (Norman, McLellan) took an upperclassman and signed what sounds like a developmental DT in the last signing class. I guess Lyons was taking enough snaps away from McLellan to convince him to transfer.

Is there any talk of OL coach changes? I know we always say we need a ST coach and an OC and the OL is where a spot would come from.... but it seems we cannot recruit many OL even with given depth issues, and the ones we manage to recruit seem to leave in a year so the only consistent thing on both sides of these problems is the coaches.

We cannot get better as a team if our OL is a revolving door of undeveloped OL that never have time to bond as a unit.

Is there a list of who’s visiting? Can’t say I have seen one like during HS recruiting.

For me it's kind of tough to think about the portal and transfers when our NIL seems to be the one that drops the ball.

They have dropped the ball in recruiting, and they will do it to players that we end up with in from the portal... at least with the ones have more eligibility left.

We need to fix the Gators' NIL... now.

Yeah sure, all those highly rated OL recruits and the stellar OL play under the two OL coaches proves my comment wrong. Silly me.

With Boone back I think Sapp takes on something of a Zach Carter role, sliding inside situationally

I just don't think you can just slide any DE into a DT position and be fine. It takes a special player to be able to do that, and if that player isn't special you end up getting gutted up the middle by the RB.

Thus "situationally"....he's not ready to be a 3 down DT, but he certainly can slide inside on passing downs ala Z Carter when they first started using him inside.
As a rs soph Carter was 6-4 263, as a RS soph Sapp was 6-3 275. Lot of skillset similarities between the two IMO

You said it!! On a 3rd and 15 yrs as we know pass rushing down but otherwise nope. Very very hard to slide 285 or under inside and typically DE’s we’ve had to slide inside were under 285. we didn’t do a ton the last couple years, but even a few plays due to depth issues and things of that nature are not going to yield good results. Again, that’s acknowledging it’s OK on pass rushing downs as you want Four speed rushers in there if it all possible Especially if you’re going to go defense and not bring an extra guy

Sapp and Boone is a strong combo. Real leadership we missed badly. Hopefully S James makes a leap and leads at lb.
