Georgia is a unique one because they have mostly 4 and 5 star guys on the team. So most of the guys who portal out will be blue chippers. Of course, they quickly replace them with shinier blue chippers. Did Georgia lose any current starters to the portal. I know OSU lost the starting QB, but did they lose any other starters? I do agree with your "wait and see who we replace them with" point. There's wisdom in that approach.
I was rewatching the Florida-Georgia game last night, Sorey and Dumas Johnson both started against us.
Of those players, how many have we reached out to? Would be nice to have Sorey, Jones, and Harris on our roster.
I believe people talk about the Gators like we are on some kind of island in regards to outgoing portal transfers. If you look at the number of guys in the portal nationwide and divide by the number of teams in the NCAA, I'd be willing to bet we are just an average team in terms of portal transfers. It is what is is today.
Georgia has like 85% blue chippers on its roster. So when they portal, it is always gonna be highly rated kids. Any word on AJ Harris? Didn't we finish 2nd for him last year? Not that Georgia's leftovers have worked out for us. But he seemed like a very talented one.
Screw ups like that seen to be the calling card of Florida defense. I think some kind of LSU voodoo curse that rolled in with the fog and it started with the shoe throw. It is so ironic that for so long we had guys we could count on to make game winning plays. Now we have guys who make game losers.
Don't remember if it was the same Harris but I felt that Harris burned florida last year after Napier tweeted his sunglasses emoji immediately after his visit. He made a snide tweet about it before committing to Georgia shortly after.
May have been but there was another that ended up with Bama I believe whose father was very vocal about that. Not nolen. Can't remember. The dad was very public about thr state of Florida's NIL
Might just be why we’re seeing so many “ starters” hitting the portal. After all, Marco was a starter too
Yes that was Mitchell. AJ was one I thought we really wanted. Unless there are some character issues that would cause us to stay away, I hope we make another run at him. Kind of ironic that the three 5 Star DBs that "got away" last year (those two plus Cormani) aren't working out well for the teams that got them. I think Mitchell got into some serious legal trouble.
How about losing 25 to the portal and losing a bowl game badly to Miz? It could be worse for us. OSU will be fine and UF will be fine. Optics look bad pretty much everywhere but a select few from TP and NIL.
Like Bama taking a Loisiana recruit/player (Napier's) and using him to win the SEC championship. Choosing being depth elsewhere over a starter would be his prerogative. I just doubt Bama.
