Infuriating to look back on isn't it? I was a Mullen fan for a while, until the end of 2020 and he didn't fire anybody.

Everything towards the end points directly in that direction. It also feels like he intentionally sabotaged the program.

Napier has been catching too much heat imho, some is fair but overall Mullen gutted UF. For example Harris is on the recruitment trail putting in WORK.

Exactly, over 2 years later and no one picked up one of the top playcallers in the country. There are only 3 explanations. Either everyone can see that he screwed us, or he is perfectly content coasting and NOT coaching, or both. It reminds me of Petrino's departure from Arkansas, except at least they got to see him skid across the pavement.

Or had saban been allowed to sign drew brees instead of daunte culpepper? Would have probably changed the course for a lot of SEC teams.

I think Napier is catching a fair amount of heat. Back to back losing seasons? Shouldn’t our coaches be putting in work? What’s Harris really doing right now?

I don’t remember the scenario precisely, but there was a reason that it wasn’t a choice between Florida and Alabama for Saban. I think that Alabama under Schula had beat Zook in the Swamp in 2006, allowing Schula to preserve a winning season and his job and setting Zook on the road to termination.

Ah...I think I'm following now. It was a scenario where Shula was retained and the UF job opened up because Zook was being shown the door. I though the proposition was a simple choice by Saban between the two programs before the 2007 season.

Not under Zook. It was ESPN’s “what if” scenario, not mine.

See post #134. He is commenting on a retro simulation that ESPN did if Zook hadn't been let go in 2004 but stayed on through the 2006 season before being released.

It was a while ago and during an off-season when people are starved for football. They did several “what if” scenarios. That was just one I remember. If there was a true turning point in this program, I think it was the 2009 SECCG. If Florida had prepped for that game like it should have (instead of partying; looking at you, Carlos Dunlap) and won. Meyer might not have folded like a little [non-resilient human] and the course of the following 10 years would have played out much better.

He isn't totally innocent, his play calling has certainly been suspect. You don't think he's putting in work?? Are you serious?? He fired 4 staff and I doubt he was sad to see Bateman go, and replaced them ALL with AC's & S/C & Nutrition with huge recommendations & nfl experience. As for Harris he's been on the trail hard. He visited X & Mincey right off the bat, landed Gregory Smith, has been offering kids that AREN'T even DB's, and strong smoke we may land a '25 DB that reclassified to '24 right after his visit with Harris. So btw do you pay attention, or bitch on message boards w/o doing some work?

Are you new at this? Granted, Nape has put much of this pressure on himself with the 5 consecutive losses to end the season, but by all accounts he is “putting in the work”. Any shortcomings he may have, lack of effort isn’t one them. Lazy take.

So you just wanted him to fire someone? Anyone?

    Just kidding.

There are coaches and bosses that do that.

At least one “donor of substance” has said the same about a certain sitting head coach.

If taking about Napier, that would be a dumb stance to take. He’s clearly working hard.

There's no way that Napier is taking that course now. Let's see how next year goes before making those assumptions.
