I did too and ~ not terrible. Mixed with fruit in a smoothie and much better. Been having one of those for lunch.
My sister mentioned yesterday that she's had IBS for years. And, also based on this thread, I said "I've heard that kefir is good for that ...."
Thanks! It's quite possible that I've might have had natto before and didn't know it. My wife is Japanese and sometimes ferments soybeans for different culinary reasons. I def haven't always liked those dishes. Recently, she's been making me a black sesame seed milk. I drink a half cup each day in addition to a cup of kefir. Also drink a lot of green tea. And on most days an apple cider & lemon tonic. Not sure anyone can truly feel the effects of kefir per se but given the association of fermented foods with good microbiome health and overall health, for me it's the easiest and most pleasant way to have fermented foods since there are many I just won't eat.
I bought blueberry kefir and it’s kind of like drinking liquified sweet tarts. It’s kind of growing on me.
Never had any of the flavored ones. I need to try. BTW, asked my wife about natto. She's like no way. She hates it. Though she was surprised that anyone in the US knew about it.
America has a life expectancy crisis. But it’s not a political priority. https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2023/12/28/life-expectancy-no-political-response/
Normally, I would say this is primarily a personal issue: lifestyle and eating habits. But, with government so incestuously involved with both farm and pharma they have a responsibility here. Our nation’s recent bout with COVID, subsidies to farmers, etc. will make it very challenging for a politician to enact a meaningful change.

And lets not forget that living long doesnt equal actually living. I eat well and work out so I can enjoy... Living... Now. I hope it will give me a longer life, but it certainly enhances the present as well.
My grandmother lived to be 84. Spent almost her entire life obese and the last 20 years barely able to function. She was alive, but not healthy and not living.
