* Hire an OC that runs a dynamic and innovative offense. Even if it sputters at first, give us an indication that it can be explosive and exciting again. * CBN acknowledges special teams play and declares that he is going to fix it by personally being in charge going forward * Show significant improvement on D. * Do something, anything, to give us hope. Show us something that indicates that we could be building something special here.
Always a chance but what are the probabilities. I’d say lower than 50% chance based on what we’ve seen in year one and two. We’ll definitely know after next year.
Hopefully wrong, but if so, I'm told here that it won't matter, not coach's fault, he deserves 4-5 years to remove the Mullen stank and get his process implemented.
I personally would love to see Billy's results in Year 2 of DJ at QB. I'm personally ok with the long build. Missouri and FSU give hope for that route.
With an expanded SEC schedule and better opponents, we need some games to develop players and recover from injuries. OOC schedule needs to be looked at compared to other teams schedules. Next year you have FsU, Miami and UCF. Those are in State rivalry games where kids will hit snd play hard, regardless of record. No rest from SEC play. Need to look at that in the future. Agree Billy gets more time unless team implodes next year and loses vast majority of games
I do not doubt this...in principle. It is just that I presume (and not assume) the brain trust expected something akin to progress. As of the end of Year 2, all I see is the Hokie Pokie. Yes, he can claim his first recruiting class was not sufficiently vetted and so he can't be held accountable for their leaving. And he can also claim that his choices for assistant coaches was less-than-ideal and he now knows what he has to do to right the ship. He has made two defensive changes, a S&C change, and a nutritionist. The three coaches I can get behind (although the S&C coach should have been removed after last year if he was not up to the task) but the nutritionist seems like a reach. He was not aware that proper nutrition was not being met? Really??? It feels like a way to hide behind bureaucracy. But we shall see. IMO, if all we get is the same inexplicable claims for coaching gaffs and players "not buying-in", methinks the brain trust will change direction and in a hurry. Just keep it simple and realize that Stricklin will be removed first or at the same time. Napier has some HUGE tasks ahead. He is NOT the major stockholder known as UF Football. He does not get carte blanche.
The most upsetting part about this year was what at times appeared there was a lack of effort. I do believe that a new DB and DL Coach will make a big difference also an OC will help. I was reminded by a fellow Gator that a Missed Field Goal and a Beter Defensive Scheme (Or Better Coaching) on 4th down and 17 and we are 7-5 this year despite all the issues.
I believe it. I think the goal is realistic to be a playoff team in 25. We should have a mature roster and it should be very feasible. Every team we played this year which was performing well were all mature teams. It could even be feasible in 24 with the right portal additions.
