I dont understand our portal strategy. I hope one of our reporters asks Napier to what extent they were involved with Nolen and other top portal players. I thought we have a need area and adding players like Nolen etc will immediately enhance our talent level...Is our NIL limiting us? If so, questions need ot be asked...
I think his strategy has been pretty clear. He’s not going to go after the clear money chasers. You can either agree or disagree with that approach.
Looks like we are going after guys who dominated a lower division and appear to be ready to take a step up in competition

I think you’re onto something. Kiffen can’t command a large buyout at Ole Miss. In fact, his contract can’t be any longer than 4 years due to some strange law in the state of Mississippi.

I don't worry so much about individuals that end up going elsewhere. They might not have fit the plan, or had some issues we don't know about. I will be concerned, though, if our own set of transfers that meet our needs doesn't materialize as scholarship space dictates. And, who knows, maybe we spent our NIL wad on an elite QB and keeping McCray. One thing I do know is that the portal is full of more talent than ever used to be seen in the transfer world. We need to cash in on it.
cant answer to the entirety of our strategy….but I doubt players like Nolan would consider UF unless we pay WAY over market rate. Coming off 3 consecutive losing seasons, elite players who plan 1 more year in college likely looking for a big pay day plus a chance at the 12 team playoff. M
They are pushing hard for a transfer qb. So, after several years in the program with his turn now up and they want an instant starter via the portal, guessing he’s out.
I guess Norvelle can’t develop his own players and needs to recruit from other teams. Reliance on portal causes his existing players to transfer out, as Mike has no loyalty to them.
It's funny until they land a stud QB from elsewhere. I'm expecting FSU and Auburn to pick up the best that is out there. But it does make me smile that they are in a position where they must portal a starting QB. I'm very glad to say we are not in that position (like we were last year). And the Orange Bowl is going to be a straight rout. I wish we could play the team FSU is going to field for that game.
I'd say Norvell has shown that he knows how to play the portal game. Maybe not as well as Kiffen or Kirby, but pretty darn close. I assume they'll get theirs.
